2022 Grammys

4.4.22

2022 Grammy Awards 4.3.22

The 2022 Grammys went down last night, and the vibes were mostly positive. Hip-hop was well represented from performances, announcers, nominees, and especially, winners.

I am not sure if I’ve ever witnessed a tie at any of these award shows, but this year, Jazmine Sullivan and Silk Sonic tied as winners of Best R&B Performance. The two then split as winners of Best R&B Song and R&B Album, so everyone went home happy in this category.

When Tyler, The Creator won Best Rap Album for Igor a few years back, many, including Tyler, were a bit uneasy about the win, thinking it was not truly a rap album. This year, Tyler won the same award, for Call Me If You Get Lost, which I think we can all agree made much more sense, and was absolutely well deserved.

Doja Cat was in tears accepting her award for Best Duo/Collab performance, saying how she usually downplays her role and accomplishments in music, but that this was such a big deal. Baby Keem wore an explicit t-shirt on Instagram, basically saying even if he does not win, he still wins. What do you know? Baby Keem took home a Grammy for Best Rap Performance.

It was great to see these winners. Jack Harlow performed with Lil Nas X at Jack’s first Grammys. Then Nas performed and gave a young boy the stage to share his vocals and performance skills. Hip-hop certainly showed up the best they could tonight. Below is a list of all the nominees and winners from the 64th Grammys.
