Bobby Shmurda First Day Out
4.1.21
Bobby Shmurda has been released from prison, after six years behind bars. The artist was able to return home on February 23rd, and will complete the remainder of his sentence under community supervision, until this day in 2026. While word from the Bobby’s team was that he was heading straight to the studio, it has been over a month and still no First Day Out from Bobby. Is it on the way, and what is keeping him from dropping it?
The First Day Out record is imperative for artists whom have been locked away. We have heard the records from Gucci Mane, Tee Grizzley, Kodak Black, JT from City Girls, dating all the way back to Boosie when he got home. Man, was that a time to be a Boosie fan. These are just some, and most of these artists were not gone quite as long as Bobby Shmurda was. So, fans are itching are to hear from him since his return, and find out what kind of Bobby we are going to get in 2021.
Typically, the First Day Out record drops within a week or two of the artist coming home. More like a day or two if you are Gucci Mane, but that is a whole other animal. While it has been some time, there is word that Bobby has some sort of a banger on the way. PVNCH, who is a DJ and entertainment creator in the cultural spaces of hip-hop, sports and music, shares that he has spoken to Bobby Shmurda on his YouTube series Earport. PVNCH shared that Bobby played him his new hit single, and that “the vibes and energy were there.” In an Instagram post, he shared that the hit will be dropping within two weeks.
@itsbobbyshmurda said PVNCH go tell them *** how this s*** is sounding 😤😤😤 TELL EM STOP PLAYING WITH ME 😤😤😤 REPOST / SHARE THIS IF YOU READY FOR THAT#bobbyshmurda SINGLE TO DROP ... F*** YOU THOUGHT
So if it is a massive hit, why do we need to wait another two weeks? Well, allegedly, there are some situations going on with Bobby’s label. Prior to going away for six years, Bobby Shmurda was signed to Epic Records. He was originally supposed to release his debut album under the label, before he was locked up. Obviously, there was not an opportunity for this to happen. Six years later, hip-hop is praising Bobby and they want him to be the next big thing. With all this energy, what do you expect but for Jay-Z and Roc Nation to come for Bobby? Rumor has it, that Bobby is trying to sign over at Roc Nation, however, there have been some label issues getting into the way, because Bobby has yet to fulfill his requirements with Epic Records. This news comes from Two Bees TV, and has not been confirmed. However, Daniel J Smith, manager of Kaash Paige and Maxo Kream at Roc Nation, has shared a photo with Bobby, which appears to be at the Roc Nation space, with a massive logo light behind them, and Bobby with a number of goodies at his feet.
The thing about all of this is, if Bobby does want to switch labels, he will need to complete his contract with Epic Records. That does not really explain why Epic Records would be holding out on any new music, but I am guessing there were just some words and negotiating going on in the background. It would be an amazing move for Bobby to go to Roc Nation, where it would seem that the opportunities are plentiful. However, the one missing piece is Rowdy Rebel. The two are a dynamic duo that have always gone hand-in-hand. Not only do they have their own GS9 Records label together, but allegedly, Rowdy Rebel just resigned with Epic Records, after being released from the label when behind bars. The two may be off in different directions in terms of labels, but after all they have been through, I am thinking they are not the type that will steer away from continuing to be best friends and collaborating as much as possible.
So, hopefully we hear new Bobby Shmurda within the next week or two. It could be a First Day Out record, it could be a single off of a new album. Shoot, maybe he wanted to whip out the album so quick that we are still waiting, because we are getting a whole album and then Bobby is ready to jump label ship. Whichever way you look at it, I cannot wait to hear what we get from Bobby. What are you hoping for with the new release?
