Cardi’s Candace Battle
9.8.20
Cardi B is still living out her number one hit single WAP, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, but there are always haters when it comes to one’s success. Cardi B has been known to use her platform, to share insights on why it is important to exercise your right to vote, and has even had numerous interviews with politicians to showcase why they are the better candidate over Donald Trump. Candace Owens is an author and political activist whom is a very stern Trump supporter. As a black female, many have questioned her motives and mindset. For many years, but especially the past weekend, Candace has a lot of things to say about Cardi B.
Just yesterday, Candace went on Instagram Live and saved the eight minute video that calls out Cardi B. She called Cardi dumb, an idiot, and claims she has no right to speak about politics because she is only being a voice for one party, instead of asks questions to people on both sides. I would say that is what people who are registered to one party will do, but that is fine. Rihanna always told us to vote, because she could not, as she is not a citizen yet. Cardi B using her platform to educate is huge, because it shows her fans that she cares, and it is a big deal. Many young kids do not understand this, and hearing people that have nothing to do with politics speak out on them, helps others to understand how this does, in fact, effect your daily lives, even when you do not work in politics.
Candace also went on the Ben Shapiro show and describes how disgusted she is with rap music, today. She calls Cardi B’s interview with Joe Bidden insulting, suggesting that he thinks Black America is stupid and that they will get his votes for speaking to an ‘illiterate rapper.’ What is interesting, is that Candace continues to use the term WAP in her captions, in her speaking, and even shares a photo of Cardi B holding her new book that is currently on preorder. Cardi B managed to scoop up some old tweets from Candace back in her Love & Hip-Hop days. It seems that Candace has always had quite a thing for Cardi B, and many assume she is coming for Cardi so hard, in order to sell her book.
Unfortunately, the debacle does not end here, as the two go back and forth on Twitter. From Candace sharing her interview video, saying she “had to rip Cardi a new WAP,” to Cardi B attempting to explain why she feels she has a place in politics. While Cardi’s fans ask her to ignore the troll, she reports back to Candace as well as several fans holding down her side.
Just hours before the Twitter trolling began, Cardi B shared a disturbing video recording from her sister Hennssey’s trip to the beach. She was with her girlfriend and had their car parked in a normal spot, next to some other families. Of course during Labor Day Weekend, the beach is going to be packed. Unfortunately for Henny and her girlfriend, they were parked next to some grueling old men that harassed them forcing them to move their car. This family simply did not want Henny and her girlfriend in their sight. Cardi was upset by this, and of course the speculation is that this group of people were racist and homophobic. This is one important thing Cardi has been preaching when it comes to getting Trump out of office - equality for all.
Now, this is a platform for freedom of opinions, but I will not get too into the politics here. What is important to note is, how insane it is that one black woman with a huge platform is tearing down another, because she feels that Cardi B is not worthy of having an opinion in this space. Cardi may be wild and out going, and certainly not safe for work, but this is what you are supposed to do when you have a huge platform. Educate, share your ideas, allow your followers to hear what you have to say and what is going on. Some of them do not have anyone else to guide them, and they do look up those in the public eye.
