Christmas Cheer

12.21.22

The holidays are coming up quick, and while it should be a joyful, love-filled time for families, sometimes that is not always the case. Some may be far away from home, missing someone, or not doing feeling great about spending big on gifts. During these times, I would like to highlight our favorite artists giving back to their cities.

Latto just received the key to her city, Clayton County, where the city also named December 18th, ‘Latto Day.’ This stemmed from Latto hosting her second annual, “Christmas in Clayco,” where she was able to help out families in need with some of their Christmas shopping. She provided a link for local families to sign up ahead of time, attend her event where they could win things like a Christmas dinner, TVs, bikes, toy cars, turkeys and other gifts.

When it comes to the mental aspect of dealing with the holidays, G Herbo has you covered with his Swervin’ Through Stress program. G Herbo uses his platform to spread mental health awareness and give those going through anxiety and depression an outlet to express themselves and understand that they are not alone. For the Holiday Wellness program in particular, Herb partnered with The Healing, whose organization’s goal was to provide over 150 students and families with coats, gifts, and other winter essentials for this holiday season.

Keeping it in Chicago, Hotblock Jmoe appears to be next up with multiple co-signs and features from his fellow peers. Even though he is just getting his start in the industry, he is already doing his due diligence to give back to his community. Jmoe and his label, Velcro Records, were able to host a Christmas Toy Drive where they gave away $25,000 in toys to those in need. And of course, he topped it off with dropping off a new single, 658.

Is your favorite artist giving back for the holiday? Do you look for your favorite artists to do good in their communities?
