Christmas Cover

We are officially within a week of Christmas, and if your playlist is going to get into the holiday spirit, now it primetime. Of course there are the classics that have been around for decades, but your favorite artists are covering those classics as well, for a fresh, new sound. And I am not only referencing Mariah Carey.
While Mariah is certainly the Queen of Christmas Carols, each year, it seems like new artist share their take on some Christmas Classics. Early in November, Alicia Keys released her Christmas Album, Santa Baby. So, you already know I have been in the Christmas spirit ever since.
Most recently, Chris Brown, Ari Lennox, 6lack and Summer Walker are all some whom have shared their takes on spreading Christmas Cheer. Chris Brown shared a two-pack, featuring personal Christmas singles “No Time Like Christmas” and “It’s Giving Christmas,” which, has over one million views on YouTube.
Ari Lennox shared her take on My Favorite Things, where she was able to highlight her range and tempo in an impressive way. Although, I wish there was video of the recording so we could see her passion and movements come through, like the others on our list have shared.
6lack is such a talented artist. He shared his own song, Ghetto Christmas, while being pictured in a studio room decorated for the holidays. The video highlights different aspects of 6lack’s studio time, while the content of the song showcases experiences that himself, and many of his peers likely experienced in some holiday seasons. While a new song you may not be able to sing along to right away, surely you can get familiar and do just that, with the beautiful vocals from 6lack.
Last but not least, however, Summer Walker is truly incredible. The classic that we want to hear from every extreme vocalist, is Santa Baby. Summer Walker covers the song, in a similar space from the 6lack music video, in front of a studio mic with headphones, in a large open room, decorated for the holidays. This is certainly a massive year for Summer Walker, as she is soon to be a new mom, but this cover really deserves a moment because she sounds amazing.
