One thing about being an iconic person in hip-hop, or music, or anything in general, is that the fans are going to pick up on every single clue. And, we are not going to forget about the past hints, either. While Dr. Dre has been going through some horrific times right now, including his health and legal battle for divorce, the outlet is always music. We have been here many times before, but we feel good that a new project is right around the corner.

Back in November, we have heard there was a new album on the way from Dr. Dre. This came from Page Kennedy, an about and singer/songwriter from Detroit. He has done past work with Royce Da 5’9 and other members of Slaughterhouse, so it is evident that is within close circles of Dr. Dre and his crew. Not only did he share that the “New Dre album” was sounding fire, but he also said that Eminem was most definitely on the album. It was unfortunate that in January, he was rushed to medical center in LA where he spent 11 of his days. Still, after being released from the hospital, Dr. Dre was pictured back in the studio the very next day.

Dr. Dre holds one of the most anticipated albums of all time, Detox. Dr. Dre began recording Detox back in 2003. There were so many severe delays, it kept the people waiting and wondering, when would it come out? Eminem would say at the end of his songs, “Don’t worry about that Detox album - it’s coming - we’re going to make Dre do it!” and “Detox 2020!” sharing subliminal hints to keep the project alive. It is so crazy that we have been waiting for this for almost two decades. I remember thinking, 2020?! We cannot wait that long! And the time has come and past. In 2014, Dre dropped Compton instead of Detox, and we were ultimately told to stop waiting for the album, because at this point there was so much hype that it just would not get there.

Well, perhaps it takes the most grueling year of one’s life to double double and make that album exactly what it needs to be. While we should not get overly excited too soon, rumor has it, the album is on the way.

Around the time that Page Kennedy mentioned the album was coming, a song from Dr. Dre’s catalog had leaked. It was titled Get It, and supposedly was from the Detox album. Things became suspicious to many that this was also around the time where things began getting ugly within the divorce. How could this album have been stored away and protected, for almost twenty years and suddenly, songs are being leaked? Well, the one way to get back at that would be to release an absolutely killer album that crushes all standards and money streams of leaked track.

The latest news on the block comes from this past weekend, that have hip-hop heads in a hip-hop conspiracy frenzy. Fred Wreck is a Grammy winning record producer, also from the Michigan area, who decided to share a Tweet over the weekend, that caught the attention of many. Fred Wreck has shared many personal photos of himself with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and other members of the hip-hop community, so seems to be a genuine and reliable source. The image he shared, features himself, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. The caption merely read “Beats n Rhymes #shady #aftermath.”

It is apparent the the image shared is an old image. We have previously seen an image of just Dre, Eminem and K Dot together, all wearing the same outfits, from 2017. Now that Fred Wreck is sharing the image including himself, perhaps whatever they were working on is finally ready to come to light. Putting three mammoths of the industry on one track, things need to be perfect. Seeing as we’ve been waiting almost two decades from Detox, three years and some change seems like a fair enough wait. So, fans are certainly speculating again that a track from this trio is coming soon.

On top of this, Crooked I decides to share a tweet, with the simple message “Beats & Rhymes,” about two days later. Crooked I is on the absolute top of his game when it comes to hip-hop, the culture, what is going on in the space, etc. He has his own podcast where he talks about these kinds of things, and is constantly chatting with the “Rap Connoisseurs” aka his fans/followers, to get their thoughts on everything that is going down. Now, this could be a coincidence, or it could be Crooked I stirring the pot to see what the people are feeling about the possibility of a collaboration between the trio at hand, or, he could have heard the record.

My first instinct was to think that even if there is a new Dr. Dre album nearby, there is no one that it is Detox. Perhaps, there is a new album and it called Beats N Rhymes. However the more I think about it, knowing Dre has been in the studio with multiple people and producers, everything he is going through right now and everyone hyping it up - perhaps it is Detox, and Beats N Rhymes is the track featuring Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar.

Whichever way this does end up, it is something that I want to see. Eminem has said positive things about Kendrick Lamar in past interviews, calling him one of the greatest of his generation. While some may have missed it and called it a diss, Kendrick also gave his flowers to Eminem in the infamous Control Verse. All three of these guys are true students of the game, and incredible talents to each and every aspect of what makes up a song. I do not know what or when it is, but I cannot wait to hear what has been cooking up with these guys.
