Eminem Vs Who?!

1.25.22

Dr. Dre, Eminem

Throughout the pandemic, the Verzuz battles have been a highlight of celebrating music and keeping the spirits of live music and concerts alive. The platform has grown from an Instagram Live Stream, to a brand with a team of workers and ambassador deals. Verzuz closed out 2021 telling fans to get ready for season three, and less than a month deep into the New Year, there are speculations for a giant return.

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz are the two masterminds behind the trend of the Verzuz Battle. They have been able to find the epic pairings and match ups to each celebration, of two artists whom could go hit-for-hit, twenty times against each other. Whether or not your favorite artist has participated in a Verzuz up until now, there has more than likely been a discussion about who they would go against, if given the opportunity.

We have seen massive names takes part, from Snoop Dogg, to DMX, Jadakiss and more. What the people really want to see, is HOV, Lil Wayne, Eminem. Legends of yesterday and today. Would they go against each other? Who could stand up to them in a booth? Would they ever even consider something like this? Well, Dr. Dre has the Stans, and the hip-hop fans conspiring that Eminem may be up next.

Over the weekend, Eminem posted on Triller, which Dr. Dre then shared to his Instagram account. It was a video of Eminem, in an arcade like venue, rapping to his “super-sonic speed” verse on Rap God. Eminem’s Triller post has over 16,700,000 views. Dre’s Instagram repost has over 2,300,000 views. These numbers alone are crazy - imagine what a Verzuz would look like?

Not only was the video originally posted on Triller, it was Eminem’s first and only post on the platform, which just so happens to be the corporation that purchased the Verzuz brand. Aside from that, Dr. Dre captioned his post “Marshall Mathers vs Who???!!” Swizz Beatz, part owner of Verzuz commented Busta, which could mean that he is trying to get Eminem and Busta Rhymes to do a Verzuz together. Or perhaps it’s already in the works?

Some pages suggest Busta also reposted the video, but is gone now. However, he did share the Super Bowl commercial, congratulating Dr. Dre, Eminem and the others whom will be performing next month at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. So, it is definitely apparent that these guys are close enough where they are celebrating each others wins, and could be interested in celebrating each others catalogs in a Verzuz like setting someday, hopefully soon.

Eminem is never completely quiet, whether or not a new album is dropping. On top of scoring a Super Bowl Halftime Show with friends, he just hit 50 million subscribers on YouTube, released a new song with Cordae on Cordae’s latest album, and began playing in the NFT space. New music is rumored to be nearby, so it would make sense for Eminem to finally step into the ring for what would be one of the most legendary Verzuz battles to date.

Is Busta Rhymes the best opponent for Eminem? Who else would you want to see go against the Rap God?
