G Herbo has had himself a fantastic 2020, despite the world’s overall drama. The success of his latest album PTSD, plus a deluxe, was the greatest selling album or project to date. After sharing his truth and his stories, he was able to launch a youth mental health initiative to help kids that are struggling from various forms of mental illness, as well. G Herbo was just named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30, and seemed to have his life in check. Over the past week, however, he took a few steps back.

Just yesterday, it was reported that G Herbo and several of his friends were arrested for alleged stolen identification and fraud charges for over $1.5 million worth of exotic services, over the course of the past four years. These could be bad decisions of the past, but they are now catching up to G Herbo, just as things were looking up. While sad and unfortunate, these charges could potentially land G Herbo in prison, for decades.

Currently, G Herbo himself has been arrested on 14 counts of aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The other five men whom were charged in this count are being charged with the same 14 counts. One of the members, G Herbo’s manager and promoter, has an additional charge for wire fraud (opposed to the conspiracy to commit wire fraud), he is said to be the ringleader in this case.

What could a Forbes 30 Under 30 rapper need all the extra money for? Well, money was not always at it’s peak for G Herbo. Though he was gaining waves in the hip-hop game over the past four years, he was not where he is today. G Herbo and his team are accused of booking private jets and vacations, renting luxurious cars, as well as even purchasing two designer puppies, using fake identities and forms of payment.

Reports say that over the course of the past four years, the team was able to execute these fraudulent purchases by using stolen information from the “dark web” or additional sources. They would text each other the information they needed at different times of check out, using code words to let them what was going on. Allegedly, the designer puppies situation was a big deal, where the seller was suspicious of the purchase, and ended up requesting an Instagram Direct Message from G Herbo, to confirm the money and the purchase was legitimate.

This news was revealed late last night, but the crew was previously aware of their want for arrest. G Herbo allegedly turned himself into authorities in Chicago on November 24th. Then set out on bond, he will be required to travel to Boston for a court hearing, once called upon.

G Herbo’s legal team says that he has great representation, and is looking forward to establishing his innocence during this court hearing. While this seems far fetched, some of the notions suggest that G Herbo was just “doing as he was told”, when it comes to matters such as, responding to a DM about some puppies.

After such a wonderful 2020, it would be detrimental to G Herbo’s career, and his life. This is the third arrest he has received in three years. Last year, he was arrested in the domestic violence case with Ari, and the year prior, he was arrested when his limo driver reported that he was carry weapons within the vehicle. The maximum penalty for general fraud is ten years in prison. The minimum for identity theft is around two years. Fourteen counts of identity theft, if convicted, plus the conspiracy to wire fraud, just does not sound great.

I did read in one article that G Herbo’s “unnamed girlfriend” was listed on a report, but was not charged. He has been dating Taina for what seems like a wile now, but dating back to 2017, I can really be unsure of who this is. However, it seems she is off the hook. Let’s hope that they are holding it down together, and that our artist gets through this, safely.
