Heaven’s EP
9.22.21
It’s only Wednesday, but new music is upon us, including a new track from J. Cole. What J. Cole has titled, Heaven’s EP, is just about a three minute track over the beat of Drake’s recent song from Certified Lover Boy, Pipe Down. Releasing just within the past few hours, the accompanying music video already has over one million views, and is certainly bound to stir up some chatter of a new project on the way.
It was just this past May that J. Cole released his latest project, The Off-Season, and surely fans were not expecting another project so soon. However, prior to releasing the project, J. Cole did hint that he has a few more projects in the works, sharing a notebook with projects released crossed out, and a few more after The Off-Season, like ‘It’s A Boy,’ and ‘The Fall Off.’ So, if this album release heat up is anything like the last, It’s A Boy may just be on the way.
In this current track, J. Cole talks about insecurities he has. From being cut from the JV basketball team twice, to being compared to Drake and Kendrick, to not knowing how to act at public events. He also speaks on hiding his children from the judgement of the public eye, which particularly stood out to me with the potential of this new project being about the birth of his son. Certainly a profound moment in J. Cole’s life which we do not know much about, though he is a great storyteller.
Is the next album on the way? I guess we’ll see!
