It’s Giving Obsessed

Ashanti Gotta Move On Remix 10.10.22

Ashanti was the Queen of R&B in the early 2000s, but frankly, since her Verzuz Battles she has been bringing the heat once again. She has been on tours, she has released new music, and well, she has also been the topic of discussion of someone else’s career. The moment we have all been waiting for here, Ashanti has words, for Irv Gotti.

During Ashanti’s rise to stardom, she was a part of Murda Inc Records, and had an amazing relationship with Irv Gotti, which may or may not have turned into a romantic relationship. However, as time has passed and the label is no longer working in the same way, the two have grew a part. Ashanti wanted her Masters and tried in every way she could to get then, but Irv refused. He outed their relationship, personal and business-wise, and said some things that anyone would be angry or disappointed with.

A lot of this happened with Irv’s roll out for the Murda Inc Tales Series. He had a lot to say on Drink Champs, and while I felt like what came from Irv specifically on Tales was light, it was still enough to rub people the wrong way. Now, it is Ashanti’s turn to share her words.

Ashanti hopped on Diddy’s Remix to Gotta Move On, along with Bryson Tiller and Yung Miami. The world was quick to recognize exactly who these lyrics were about.

“It’s giving obsessed, it’s giving me stressed, it’s giving me pressed,” she adds. “But it’s been 20 years / Please say less … Yeah, you gotta move on.”

She even put the timeline on it, so it is no secret these is referring to Irv, and she may not be wrong.

It is sad that Murda Inc Records was such a huge piece of our lives and to see it so broken now. But, at least the two are making their own moves, on their own, still today. Would you want a reunion amongst the two, or was this the right move from Ashanti?
