Juice WRLD Legends Never Die Release Date 7.10.20

Juice WRLD’s posthumous album is set to drop this Friday, and no one is more excited about it than his friends from the label. As his entire team has been promoting the album and sharing the artwork, they have also been commenting on statements from outsiders making sure no one speaks out of line. In the age of leaking, who knows what the team is hiding, but it seems they may have more to give than we think.

An album labeled Legends Never Die after the passing of Juice WRLD just feels so fitting. Though I do not listen to a ton of his music, he truly changed the sound and expectation of young artists in hip-hop today. He is an emotional support system for so many young kids and young adults going though real life situations. For this, all of Juice’s team labeled him as a legend, and others who respected him in hip-hop said the same. With that, I find this album title fitting, though I do not think it is likely this is what Juice had originally planned.

Posthumous albums are tough, because you have to wonder, where is the artist’s money going to? Did they want this music to be released? Is this how they wanted the song to sound? This album has received so much hype, and it is not like we ever want someone’s music to die with them, however it needs to be done in the rightful way. Whomever holds access to Juice WRLD’s social accounts shared a message, that the project will be fifteen songs to honor Juice WRLD. The message speaks on the collaborators on the project, and how much they, and Juice’s fans, meant to him. It was very passionate and heartfelt, and I do think this group of people need this album as closure to the unfortunate events that have recently taken place.

What is interesting about this note, is that it suggests a fifteen track playlist. DJ Akademiks, as always, comes through with a leak of the track list. This track list is just written in the ‘Notes’ section of one’s iPhone, so it could have come from anywhere. Still, it is interesting. What we see from Akademiks is a twenty track album. If you look closely, there are three Interludes, an outro, and an old song. So, it could be a fifteen new song album, if this track list is accurate. However, Lil Bibby, who is close friends and executive on Juice’s label, commented on this post, stating it was fake news.

Lil Bibby could be calming down the noise prior to its actual release. So much music has been leaked lately, and I am sure he wants his brother’s posthumous album to drop the right way. However, if the list is accurate, Legends Never Die will have features including Trippie Redd, Hasley, NBA Youngboy, Too Short, Gunna, Lauryn Hill, Polo G, Young Thug and Lil Dicky. Definitely some fun ones, and some interesting ones in there.

Earlier today, Juice WRLD’s team dropped one of the songs with Hasley, entitled, Life’s a Mess. Context wise, as you may assume, it is a broken heart love song. This is the third song that has dropped since the passing of Juice WRLD in December. The other two songs are titled Righteous and Tell Me U Luv Me, which will appear on the album if Akademiks is a reliable source.

To make matters more interesting, Lil Bibby just moments ago tweeted asking if he should add more songs. Of course people think they are getting twenty track album after this alleged track list dropped. Hip-hop artist are dropping deluxe albums like it is nothing nowadays. It is clear that Bibby is working with a whole vault of unreleased music, that he wants to share with the Juice WRLD fans of the world.

It is interesting, sometimes this feels so wrong. In this instance, the love is so apparent, I really feel like Bibby is so proud of this work and feels that Juice would want his fans to have all of his best work. Come Friday, it will be fun to see what we actually get from this Juice WRLD album. Rest In Peace, Legend.
