Musicians across all genres of music have had their fair share of Christmas carols and song covers. Even hip-hop artists have created their own Christmas albums, joined in holiday jingles, and covered infamous songs around the holidays. While usually simple and enjoyable, Lil Kim spices things up with her latest track that has her as a trending topic across the Internet.

Lil Kim is one of the most well-known names in hip-hop as a whole. While her prime time in music was the late ‘90s and early 2000s, Lil Kim has continued to keep her legacy and relevancy in the industry strong. From continuing to go on tour, a reality television series, and putting out new music at the right time, Lil Kim has earned her spot as a legend in the field. However, this never comes without haters.

As a continuation to her catalog, Lil Kim landed herself a spot in Nick Cannon’s latest VH1 Movie, Miracles Across 125th Street. The film launched Monday December 20th, and can be streamed on VH1 network. As a part of her role in the movie, she plays part in a new song for the holidays, Santa Papi. A clip from the music video also leaked, showcasing Lil Kim wearing full sequence looks, and telling Santa to throw some dollar bills on her as her Christmas wish.

The original Santa Baby track has been twisted by dozens of artists in similar ways, but for some reason, the internet always comes for Lil Kim. The internet can be ruthless, but Cardi B has taken the time to express how strongly she feels about Lil Kim. She tweeted on several occasions that the disrespect people give towards Lil Kim is uncalled for and “heartbreaking.” She also suggested that when it’s time to collab, it will be magical, but it is not something that should be rushed.

In addition to Lil Kim, Tommy Davidson, Jim Jones, DC Young Fly, Teyana Taylor, Pretty Vee, and many more were tapped into by Nick Cannon to partake in the film. Not only has Lil Kim scored this role behind our flat screens, but she was also selected as one of the selected few members to join the XXL Board for the 2022 XXL Awards Board. Lil Kim said she is thrilled to be a part of the board to not only find new talent, but give existing artists their flowers as they deserve.
