Lollapalooza
8.1.22
Music festivals continue, and Lollapalooza just wrapped up in Chicago to close out July. Hundreds of thousands attendees from across the United States were in attendance of the music festival, with acts from a plethora of genres. There were plenty of moments to be remembered from the four day musical festival.
Lollapalooza consisted of eight different stages across Grant Park in Chicago. Headliners consisted of Dua Lipa, Metallica, Green Day, J. Cole, Kygo, Machine Gun Kelly and Lil Baby. Special guests included MGK brining out Avril Lavigne, Kygo bringing out Chance the Rapper, J. Cole bringing out IDK, and more.
Big Sean performed on Saturday and brought out the mother of his future child, Jhené Aiko. The crowd erupted as the couple preformed together, and showcased their genuine love for one another.
Cordae performed, and brought the energy that he always does. For the first half of his performance, he wore a beard that was densely thick on each side of his face, and nonexistent on his chin. Halfway through his performance, he ripped it off and concluded it was a fake from a video he had been filming. I still do not know if the blogs know it was fake becuase everything gone viral consisted of him wearing the fake beard. I truly could not believe my eyes when I saw it.
Lil Durk, unfortunately had a memorable set due to a traumatic occurrence on stage. One of the smoke machines went off unexpected while Durk was walking by it, and blew up in his face. He did complete his set, but later showed himself in face bandages, expressing he would be taking a break to focus on himself and his mental well-being.
J. Cole brought out JID on stage and had a total Dreamville performance. Though not an entire hip-hop festival, the genre is always present in Chicago, and it was another festival to remember.
Lollapalooza 2023 will go down next year, August 3rd-6th.
