Name of The Game
8.3.22
While we certainly never want to see anyone struggle, the hip-hop industry has become a complying group to keep mental health discussions on the forefront of what is going on in their lives. A topic that once tabu, people are now understanding the importance of this topic, and bringing their experiences to light. Even the toughest of artists which may surprise you.
Over the weekend, Lil Durk shared that he would be taking a mental health break for the next few weeks, after being injured by a smoke machine during his performance at Lollapalooza. The incident must have been terrifying, thinking it was just another day in the office for Durk, so it is good he is going to take his time to recover. The Game, has been most recent to discuss his mental health and ensuring he is putting that first over anything.
The Game has been discussing a new album for months now, and the time should be near. His last full length album was in 2019, and he states that his new album will be releasing on August 12th. In his latest post shared yesterday, he writes a PSA to fans that he will be taking a break from social media, his phone, and even going out in order to take care of his mental health.
Since the post, The Game has removed all other social posts from his page, and shared some details of what he has been going through, that appear to be a lot of deep wounds (physically and mentally after cutting his finger and needing to get stitches).
However, The Game says that he is taking his time to complete the album, and promises that it will drop on August 12th. Hopefully The Game can use music as an outlet, in addition to his therapy treatments, in order to overcome the distress he has been witness in his life as of late. He mentions the past few weeks being tough, but have also seen him struggle with family on Father’s Day, and felt left out by not being included in the Super Bowl Half Time Performance.
Some may say that is just the name of the game, but let’s all make sure we are taking care of ourselves, and each other. I for one, am thrilled to hear this new album from The Game. Which features would you like to see on this new album?
