Drake has always expressed his love for the NBA, and now will be releasing an OVO apparel and accessories collaboration with the NBA. From hats, to crew necks, varsity jackets and more, the collection will feature athleisure-wear representing some of the hottest NBA teams, and of course, the OVO brand. While some brand ambassadors or creative directional artists take the forefront of the marketing campaign and model imagery, Drake enlisted in a few friends to help him kickstart his campaign.

OVO releases new collections on their own, each fashion season. The NBA has also done a number of brand collaborations, such as their previous collab with Young & Reckless, Supreme, Hugo Boss, and Luis Vuitton. OVO seems to be somewhere in the middle. Nice, quality goods, but with the room to have some fun.

The full length of the collection may still be rolling out, but there are currently three team capsules that have been unveiled, including the LA Lakers, Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. I feel almost positive that we’ll at least see a Toronto Raptors in the mix, but these three teams have been unveiled on the OVO official Instagram page, as well as their local city ambassadors; Bobby Shmurda, Chief Keef and Drakeo the Ruler.

Those were most excited to see Bobby Shmurda lead the campaign, sharing his images first, repping the New York Knicks. Bobby is a guy from New York, that although has yet to drop some serious new music since coming home from jail, has a lot of attention and eyes on him. Every time he posts it gets picked up, let alone for this high profile collection he is unveiling for the first time. In the post, Bobby can be found wearing a blue hat, with the Knicks and OVO owl logo mashed up together. Appearal includes a matching blue varisty jacket and sweatpants. Bobby also flaunted the hat in a white OVO tee and black OVO vest for additional swipe images.

Chief Keef came second, obviously repping Chicago. When you think of Chicago, you think of two people; Michael Jordan, and Chief Keef. Michael Jordan was most well known for playing for the Chicago Bulls for many years. Chief Keef is known for basically creating Chicago Drill music, turning it into what it is today, and creating a song that would get him banned from performing live in public places because of safety precautions, but they still play it over and over at any festival you head to. Chief Keef’s cap logo lockup was the OVO owl with horns, and the track jacket played with giant letter blocking on the back, mashed up once again with Bull horns.

Finally, (for now) Drakeo the Ruler representing LA. Though you may think there were plenty of people to rep the Lakers, Drakeo reps LA specifically, and has been making quite the name for himself lately. Obviously, this collection is the best so far. Not only does the cap and varsity jacket look great, but here we see a crewneck layer for the first time. Super simple and wearable, incase the jackets are a bit too much.

The collection is looking good so far, and reported to launch in just two days, on September 29th. Perhaps that means the new sneaker will drop soon, as well.
