Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion On Me Remix 4.27.21

Yesterday afternoon Lil Baby premiered the “On Me Remix” track and music video, which features a verse from Megan Thee Stallion. The duo has separately been on fire when it comes to their catalogs over the past two years, but together, may come a a bit of a surprise. Just over a month ago, Megan Thee Stallion took home the Grammy for Best Rap Song, with the Savage Remix, over Lil Baby’s The Bigger Picture. Many say that Lil Baby was snubbed for the Grammy, however it seems like it is all love between the two.

The original On Me track was released in early December, and is certified Platinum in the United States, meaning he has sold the equivalent to over 1,000,000 units. The song peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Charts, as well as 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently, On Me has reached gold status in Canada, selling the equivalent of 40,000 units. Now that he has Megan Thee Stallion on board, things can only go up from here.

Lil Baby shared a clip of the music video on his Instagram page, announcing a YouTube Premiere yesterday afternoon. Megan Thee Stallion also shared several posts from her parts in the music video. The video takes place on what appears to a glacier, the perfect spot for two hip-hop sensations that are all about their ice and money, I suppose.

In the first scene of the video, Megan Thee Stallion is wearing a black bodysuit, with crystals that cover all of the seams in the suit. It is absolutely stunning. She has a blonde bob in as well. Her and Lil Baby stand together on the glacier, so it is clear that they were able to shoot the video together, opposed to some videos we’ve seen with artists shot in different locations, most likely due to social distancing and traveling issues during these times. That is certainly a positive thing to see in new music video production, that we are starting to get together again. Megan has the second verse, and the scenery changes from icy to fiery in the blink of an eye. Megan is now standing on a volcano, ready to erupt, wearing a black leather suit with a red and orange flame corset bodice.

I think the verse was pretty interesting. I sound like a broken record saying Megan can only do one style. I think Lil Baby challenged her a bit here. The beginning of the verse starts out strong with a bar to really catch your attention. Then, they kind of had to stop the beat for her to back into her typical flow that we are used to hearing when she raps. At the end of the verse, she tried to sing with the chimes of the beat, but really did not say anything, it was a clear autotune. Overall, I think the transitions were a bit rough. However, Megan gave the people what they expect when she comes to play. Something to make you feel like a bad girl if you can sing it out loud.

This song was a platinum hit prior to Megan Thee Stallion getting involved, and it is only up from here. I already heard them playing the song on the radio this morning, I am sure streaming will continue to climb like crazy, for this version of the song only moving forward. In less than 24, the video currently has over 4 million videos on YouTube.
