P, Coach K

It seems that artists have been selling their catalogs left and right. The labels that already own rights, are also able to make those moves. Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "P" Thomas founded Quality Control (QC) Music in March 2013, and have just announced a deal being acquired by Scooter Braun and HYBE America.

QC has been an independent label fostering some of todays hottest artists. Lil Baby, Migos, Lil Yachty, City Girls, Lakeyah are just a few of the star packed roster Coach K and P have had the opportunity to work with. According to a Variety Interview, they have hopes in taking QC global, which is why they decided to sell their brand to HYBE America.

Scooter Braun became the CEO of HYBE America earlier this year, and and now is making major moves by acquiring QC at what is reported to be a three-hundred-twenty-thousand dollar ($320,000,000) deal. Braun says he wants to continue to watch Coach K and P shine, but with the global resources of HYBE to support them in growing even more. They’ll also continue their joint venture Capitol Music Group of Universal Music Group.

Is this a massive win for QC and the artists, or should they have continued to ride independently?
