Quarantine Playlist

3.22.20

We’re stuck indoors, alone, across the globe. It is such a crazy time, and the only thing that keeps me sane is music. Here is a playlist, to keep your head up. We’re thinking positive, the nice weather is on it’s way, we’ll get through this.

This playlist might not be my typical round of suggestions, but it’s meant to be fun, entertaining, and help you get through whatever you’re feeling during this time of isolation. The theme is, solo dance parties help.

Lil Mosey Blueberry Faygo

Call me too old, or call me Gen Z, I cannot get enough of this song. Lil Mosey is just eighteen years old from Washington. He does a lot of work with Cole Bennett, he’s doing a lot of great things as a young kid. You can tell by the album cover, this is such a summer jam. I dare you to listen to this song, and not want to dance around your house, play beer pong on the beach, and just smile. If you’re tired of staring at the same four walls for hours, you’re mad at your sibling for eating the last slice of pizza, this song will get you in a better mood, no doubt.

Baby Keem Orange Soda

Baby Keem, is another baby. He’s nineteen from Nevada. Keem looks like an innocent little boy, but the song would beg to differ. It’s pretty scandalous, suggestive, degrading, cute, nasty, all the above. But, he does it in a way that makes this such a feel good song. The beat is light and peaceful, it is bound to make you sway side to side while you’re at your desk. I’m really into verse two and the fun flow he uses, lots of good quotables here, too. When someone is trying to kill your positive vibe, just sing them the chorus.

Blueface FT Jeremih Close UpIf you can’t be at an island, don’t you want to at least feel like you’re at an island? Blueface and Jeremih take us there, keeping us calm, and telling us to forget all our worries, and come party. This is probably the n…

Blueface FT Jeremih Close Up

If you can’t be at an island, don’t you want to at least feel like you’re at an island? Blueface and Jeremih take us there, keeping us calm, and telling us to forget all our worries, and come party. This is probably the nicest song Blueface has ever sang. The beat is people clapping, snapping, singing, bells and light drums, positive vibes all around. Play this song, FaceTime your bestie whose home doing nothing, just like you, and listen to when Blueface tells ya-

“Put your glass in the air if you’re with your best friend.”

Lil Uzi Vert PopI have to put this song on the playlist, because I want you all to have a good time. The beat takes us directly to outer-space. Lil Uzi comes out the gates with the funniest bars I’ve ever heard. It’s pretty corny, and he knows it, a…

Lil Uzi Vert Pop

I have to put this song on the playlist, because I want you all to have a good time. The beat takes us directly to outer-space. Lil Uzi comes out the gates with the funniest bars I’ve ever heard. It’s pretty corny, and he knows it, as he calls you out to see if you’re listening. I assume the “pop” you’ll want to do after hearing this song, is a dance. Perhaps a boogie, since the beat is so funky. When I’m listening to this song, I’m envisioning Uzi in my head, singing and dancing to this song, repeating multi and Balenci a hundred times combined. If you can’t get down with the new wave, you should at least get a laugh.

A$AP Mob, Lil Yachty, Schoolboy Q, Smooky MarGielaa, KEY! Bahamas

Bringing one back from 2017 to help you get through this tough time. I know we all want to be at the Bahamas, and we could get there for less than the price of a movie ticket, but we’re at home being safe. I dub the A$AP Mob the most underrated hip-hop artists in the game. They are incredibly talented, and with this song, prove they can work with any type of beat. It’s extremely goofy, so be open with me here. The light-hearted punchlines, fast rhythm, silly flows make this my favorite jam on the list. When you’re feeling down or stressed out, random dance parties always help. This song will let loose of all your jitters.

Blac Youngsta FT City Girls WhisperHad to get trap on you eventually. This is my go-to song on Monday mornings when I was commuting. Maybe that was TMI, but just a great song to get you over the fact that you’re going to work, the weekend is over, o…

Blac Youngsta FT City Girls Whisper

Had to get trap on you eventually. This is my go-to song on Monday mornings when I was commuting. Maybe that was TMI, but just a great song to get you over the fact that you’re going to work, the weekend is over, or in our case, we’re stuck inside and don’t know when this will end.

The beat is the same from the Ying Yang Twins Whisper Song. That in itself should give you a whole new appreciation for Blac Youngsta. Obviously the beat itself is one to jig to, or snap your fingers to. It is also nice to hear the City Girls go crazy without feeling the need to screech on the beat.

Key Glock Dough

As my southern rap phase comes to an end, I’ve acquired quite the interest in Key Glock. I don’t speak on this matter lightly, so do with this information what you will, but please don’t judge. He makes Dum & Dummer with Young Dolph a whole lot better in my opinion, and I think his solo album was pretty good. He has a lot more to him then just being this super gutter rap kid from Memphis. This track in particular is the closest thing we’re going to get to a Snoop Dogg type of song in today’s hip-hop. I’m using that as the only comparison because he totally mocked Snoops’ flow a few times on the track. If you need some motivation to do your at-home work-outs, clean your room, or do something tedious you’ve been putting off forever, play this song and grind it out, you’ve got this.

Sada Baby Aktivated

Another ‘Baby’ that people don’t really pay attention to. I’d like to say ahead of time, you’re welcome, for putting this song on your radar. The song starts with the “jump on it” song in the background. Sada comes in with an “On God” chant like Ferg did in his song, On God. As he goes on, I feel like he sounds so much like Tee Grizzley. Also interesting, since Tee Grizzley has a whole album out called Activated. They’re both from Detroit, so it’s that nasally aggressive type sound. Even though he’s super aggressive and some of the content is violent, it’s so fun and upbeat. The album is called Skuba Sada, so you really cannot take it too seriously. When you listen, you’ll probably want to do the Carlton dance, and add it to your repeat playlist. Just so you can dance and sing a long to a crazy violent rap song, for fun.

Rich the Kid Red

Rich the Kid is someone I hate to love. His music is just super catchy and I have to jam whenever it comes on. Definitely not someone I think to go and listen to on my own, so I’m putting this here because it’s a nice song to have playing in the background. You can do some weird Tik Tok dances to this song, you can bob your head while you’re doing some work, or you can let it play in the background, soaking in the peaceful beat.

Mozzy Overcame

Mozzy is another I think is super underrated in this space. He’s been putting out music since 2011, created his own label in 2016, and is just somewhat getting noticed the past few years. His sound is super cool and different. You can just tell he’s speaking his truth in everything he puts out. So for my last song, I leave you with Overcame. If you need to get through something now, play this song. If you’re vibe-ing to the fun tracks, play this song once all this Corona Craziness is over. We can then talk about all the chaos we overcame.
