RAW Entertainment

Is it just me, or is the WWE making a comeback in popularity? Perhaps it is uncertainty in many sports leagues throughout the pandemic, but I keep hearing more and more about the WWE, and feel like they may be onto something. As a kid, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown were so much fun. After realizing they were over dramatizations and completely fake, the excitement starts to dwindle. But now, we are searching for all kinds of entertainment while cooped up in our homes. The WWE payed attention to what is popular, and they woke some real beasts.
Monday Night, where WWE Raw takes place, was also the premier of the new season of the Bachelor. A widely popular reality television show, that whether you love or hate, you know what it is. In a skit paying homage to the show, one of the more primmer and proper wrestlers, takes his rose to one of the females backstage. Showing off his gold championship belt, smiling with his rose, and his love, ready to give. The female wrestler seems busy, and while she cannot get him to leave, she tries something else. She chose three of the most popular females in the industry right now, and claims that she has invited Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Grande to come watch Raw tonight. Not that these ladies are friends at all, but they are three of the most popular females in the industry today. She tells this man that Cardi B would love his rose, and that he should go introduce himself, as she is sitting in a room right down the hall.
As he walks into the room, asking for Cardi B, what he finds, is something much more scary. The Boogieman is sitting there, waiting for him with his head down. Once he comes in, he awakens, and states his catchphrase “I am the Boogieman, and I am coming to get you.” The WWE does a lot of backstage dramatizations and skits in between fights, which can only lead us to believe this is foreshadowing for the Boogieman to come and take the belt. What is truly the funniest part about this whole skit, is how soon word got back to Cardi B that she was brought up in this whole thing.
Who knew so many Cardi B fans were watching Monday Night Raw, live?! Cardi sent out a tweet asking, “what is going on, why do people keep tagging me in WWE stuff?” As she finally got her hands on the video, she responded, and shockingly name dropped “the owner” of the WWE. She wrote, “WWWWTTTTFFFFFFFFF ....This is not how my wwe debut was supposed to be ! Vince McMahon COUNT YOUR F**** DAYS !!!!” The tweet included some laughing emojis, so it seems like overall, Cardi B had a laugh at the whole skit. However, when Wale told her to pull up with a Rey Mysterio mask and start cashing checks, she responded she was already on her way.
Now that she named dropped the owner, fans assumed she was a WWE fan. Cardi B told us she was too young for The Rock, but loved watching Booka T, Eddie Gurrero, Triple H, Batista, John Cena, Edge, Melina ,Trish Stratus, Lina and others when she was younger. She was ecstatic when both Trish and Melina responded to the tweet sharing positive respect for one another.
Things did get heated, however, when Lacey Evans shared a tweet that just did not sit well with Cardi. Evans told Cardi to be careful what she wished for, because in the WWE, they would leave her with more than a black eye, and tagged Nicki Minaj. This, of course is a nod to the Met Gala incident where rumors spread that Nicki threw her heel at Cardi B, leaving her with a huge bump right on her face. Cardi B responded in defense mode, and Evans kept coming. Since, it seems that Cardi B has deleted her tweet, and decided to let Evans be in character, but she is done entertaining. For now.
This whole incident has lead many to believe that there may be a day that we see Cardi B enter the Raw ring. While my gut instinct says no way, I feel like if the check is right, and she wants to act like she is getting into a fight when she really is not, she might like that. It could be a fun, playful way to let off some steam, while getting a check for it. Rob Gronkowski was able to do this last year after “retiring” from football. While he was an actual athlete, I do not think Cardi would ever back down to anyone. Not the mention the amount of celebrities we have recently seen attempt to join boxing. This could be a major comeback from the WWE.
