Although I was kind of hoping Gronk would come back for one more season with the Patriots, this will suffice. Rob Gronkowski, former Patriots tight end will be joining WWE SmackDown on Friday nights, beginning March 20th. We should also expect him to be a part of WrestleMania 36 in April.

I think it makes sense for Gronk. He retired one year ago, and was instantly looking for more work, sparking up rumors of returning, entering the Masked Singer show, etc. It’s like, he didn’t play this past season, but he never really left the game. Typically when you’re done, done, you go on a series of long, beautiful vacations and don’t even think about coming back. David Ortiz was straight up gone for at least a year before returning to Fenway Park. Has anyone seen or heard from Hanley Ramirez before he got let go? Exactly. Gronk clearly still wants in on the action, and has gained himself a spot as an NFL analyst with Fox Sports since this past October. Word is he will still have time to hold both jobs, so the man will continue to be very busy.

I’m curious to see how this goes. It seems like the WWE is where retired NFL players seek to go. Strange, because I cannot see this helping their head trauma and other injuries that may have been occurred. However the case, we know it is only so real, so I am sure Gronk is more than ready for what is to come. I feel like he is perfect for this, his size is on par to his opponents, and I am sure he won’t be shy to give some flavor and over-the-top fake aggression when necessary. At the same time, because I know it’s fake, and how big of a goofball Gronk is, I’m not sure how serious he, or I, will be able to take it.

Either way, he was born to be an incredible athlete, so I am sure he will do great. I will definitely be tuning in, Friday nights at 8PM, to watch it all go down on WWE.
