Rolling Loud 2022
7.25.22
It is the Monday after Rolling Loud Miami, and it seems to be all that the hip-hop blogs are talking about. Rightfully so, at that. Between the performances, surprise guests and hints at more to come, it was a weekend to be remembered for quite some time. Lollapalooza is up next, and they will have a lot to live up to.
Rolling Loud is a hip-hop festival that stops in a number of different cities throughout the year. This past weekend was Miami, at the Hard Rock Stadium. Headliners included Kid Cudi, Future, and Kendrick Lamar. While Kanye West was scheduled to headline, he ended up dropping out from the line up and was replaced with Kid Cudi. Ironically enough, Ye showed up as a surprise guest during Lil Durk’s performance, which went live right around the same time as Kid Cudi, on another stage. Unfortunately, Kid Cudi’s set did not go down as well, and we hope he is doing alright after the performance.
Aside from the headliner drama that took place, there was a lot of exciting surprise acts throughout the weekend. In addition to Ye’s “guest” appearance, Gucci Mane brought out Migos in addition to a few of his label mates. Future later on brought out the Migos again, in addition to Lil Durk, who had his own set the night before, and Travis Scott. Kendrick Lamar ended up bringing out Kodak Black to close out the weekend, after playing a huge role in K. Dot’s latest album.
Even for the artists we were prepared for, they really did their thing to make headlines. G Herbo completed an interview stating he was dropping a new album in about a month, with some big features. Yung Miami twerked all over Quavo during his surprise appearance. Your favorite icy girl, Saweetie made headlines serval times, as she shoots her shot at a fan in the crowd, performs new track, and some say shades Lil Baby shopping spree rumors. AB started an NFL Twitter Chat frenzy after getting his own full set at Rolling Loud, and had the crowd going crazy.
There were tributes, props, lights, and everything you need to make this an incredible and trendy moment for hip-hop. I personally was able to attend and definitely think it was my favorite music festival I have attended to date. Lolla is up next, with a more broad range of genres, it will be interesting to see how the weekend goes.
