Slaughterhouse Shows Love
10.6.20
I woke up this morning and it was going down on Instagram Live. I am talking six thirty in the morning, Royce Da 5’9 and Los are going at it. Not in a super heated way amongst each other, but something had just gone down. Things may not have gone well for Slaughterhouse, but Royce still shows unconditional love for some members. In many cases, people look to him as their big brother in the hip-hop world, and that really pulled through this morning, probably before you even woke up.
Just over a week ago, Royce made headlines discussing his reasoning behind always remaining loyal to Eminem and Joe Budden. On one hand, some people think that Eminem let the group down, by not nurturing the enough. Then on the other hand, Joe Budden always has words to say, and at one point was at odds with Eminem, Royce’s right hand. While Eminem and Royce are like brothers from Detroit, Royce has this to say in regards to Joe Budden:
"They used to say the same thing about Joe, He always sticking up for Joe! People had a problem with me understanding Joe! Me and Joe didn't like each other in the beginning. But when we got in a group together and I got to know him, now I love Joe. So now, you can't say anything bad about Joe -- I'm gonna have a problem with that!” - Royce Da 5’9
So, Royce managed to find a way to get the two back on good terms. He even managed to more recently get Eminem and Lord Jamar back on good terms, after Lord Jamar called Eminem and other white rappers “guests” in hip-hop, and Eminem had some diss bars to follow.
So, yes, we all know Royce is one with her words, and does his best to get people to see what really matters in life. However, watching him mend this relationship in real time right in front our eyes, was something extremely remarkable.
Los is not a member of Slaughterhouse, or Shady Records, however, it appears he is of close friends with Royce and Joe Budden. Los is an incredible lyricist, however his career has always ended up on the back burner of peoples minds. For someone that feels like they always have something to prove, this may intensify your reactions to certain comments.
Remember when the Internet blew up on who was the better lyricist, Lupe Fiasco or Kendrick Lamar? Well, obviously Joe Budden needed to talk about this on his podcast, it is literally his job and why he remains relevant. Well, other lyricists got pulled into the conversation, such as Logic and Los. Lupe got on the phone with Joe, and talked about why Lupe felt those names needed to be there. To this, Joe said that “Los does not have a better album Kendrick.”
It appears that Los took this comment extremely to heart, because he was fired up about Joe Budden and what he had to say. He was on Live, talking about all the things he feels Joe Budden is wrong for, and potentially releasing a diss track that he had written, to further prove his lyrical ability. Well, things took a crazy turn after Royce talked some sense into him. Los was not an easy one to budge. He did not want to be wrong, he did not want to really listen, he felt he needed to constantly explain his stance and motive. However, Royce kept calm, cool and collected the entire time, just telling Los he needed to chat through this man to man with Joe, til the point where Los agreed. At that moment, the Live guest switched from Royce to Joe.
I could not believe this happened so fast, and prior to seven thirty in the morning. Joe was having his morning tea, and he could not have acted as more of a big brother during this time. He explained to Los that he does not even feel that he has a better album that Kendrick, and there are very few that are. He shares that he has been praising Los and his craft for years now, and he heart meant no negativity towards Los when he made the statement of Kendrick being the best.
Los continued to tell his story on how his career has not gotten to see it’s full potential, and he takes everything to heart because all the press he receives matters. Joe told Los that he just needs to hop in the car, drive over to hang with himself and Royce, and they can all work on their craft together and make big moves. Joe shared that he is constantly talking about Los and his work on his podcast, which Los got emotional about. Joe did give Los a bit of tough love here and there, acting overly emotional about how a lot of people like him, but not everyone likes him. Though, can you really expect everyone to love you?
It was clear that Los got a bit emotional, and realized he does have real friends and mentors in both Royce Da 5’9 and Joe Budden. He wiped at his eyes multiple times and ended up saying, Royce was right. They ended their beef, and it sounds like there is potential for a meet up in the near future. Imagine the lyrical insanity of what that track would look like? Looks like what remains of Slaughterhouse is not slaughtering anything besides the beef these days.
