Slime Language 2 Release
4.13.21
After months of anticipation, Young Thug has announced the release date of Slime Language 2, which should be this upcoming Friday. He does so by releasing the cover art for the project. While there is currently no confirmed trackless or features, the cover does show a beautiful Young Stoner Life Records Family Portrait that will give you a good idea of whom you can expect to see make an appearance on the project. The original Slime Language album dropped in the summer of 2018, consisting of fifteen tracks with a number of artists from Thug’s label. After hinting a sequel in October, it appears that the project is finally here.
The album cover shows everyone sitting on an ornate couch, in an old mansion type of vibe, with a table full of food. Outside through the windows, you can see lightening and a green mist, taking over the background. There is a pet dog, tinted green as well. The color green is significant to the YSL crew, calling each other “slime.” From right to left in the photo standing up, you see artists HiDoraah, producer Wheezy Outta Here, Tshyne, Unfoonk, Taurus, Dolly White, B Slime and Yak Gotti. From right to left sitting on the couch, we have, Yung Kayo, Jerrika Karlae, Young Thug, Lil Duke, Gunna, Lil Keed. Strick and FN Da Dealer.
Out of the sixteen artists that are pictured on the album cover, currently fourteen of them have shared the post their Instagram Feeds as well. Some artists are much more familiar than others, but Young Thug has consistently been known to formulate amazing teams. After learning from Gucci Mane, starting under his wing, and realizing he had to go and become something on his own, he formulated the Young Stoner Life Records in 2010, and has received nothing but success since.
There are some familiar faces on here from the original Slime Language. Karale, Lil Duke, HiDoraah, Gunna, Lil Keed, Strick and Dolly White. These artists are all sticking around with their YSL team and should most definitely find themselves with a couple of solid hits on the project. One of my favorites from Slime Language is actually U Ain’t Slime Enough which features Karale and Duke. I also think that HiDoraah and Dolly always kill it together, and then you have Gunna and Lil Keed whom are the biggest of the bunch after the boss.
It is always super interesting to see how to labels work with new artists. All of these guys have posted photos on their page with Young Thug. So, it is not like they have never worked together before, but we are seeing a full album, endorsed by Young Thug working with these new artists whom have small followings, but big potential, at least in Thug’s eyes. I am excited to hear the collars and see if there are any new hit makers from the list.
Finally, the first project also included features outside of the YSL crew, including features from Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert and Jacquees. Young Thug has been getting a bit busy with a number of single releases this year. He has worked with Meek Mill, Sheck Wes, Lil Durk and others. There could be an opportunity for additional large named features on the project, but I do not think it is even needed here.
There is always something exciting about new artists and collaborative albums. Whether or not you are familiar with all the names on this list, it is something extremely exciting and groundbreaking to listen to and be a part of. New Music Friday, we are ready for you.
