Stan Conspiracies
7.27.20
It feels like whenever we stop thinking about it, Eminem has something up his sleeve. From fake billboard ads, to shock dropping albums and pulling up at the Grammy’s after a career long feud, we’re constantly on our toes for what is to come next. Eminem has been extremely vocal about how much leaking music hurts an artist, so Stans are not so quick to believe this new conspiracy theory is inaccurate.
Just a year ago, Eminem amongst many other legends in hip-hop lost their masters to old top hits in a tragic fire at Universal Studios. Perhaps a coincidence, or just the desire to continue, but Eminem has been on his game ever since. He has been doing interviews, he dropped Music To Be Murdered By, he is getting heavily involved with his city and community, and he has the immense excitement of the rap trio Griselda on his side. Though right now may not be his prime, he is never not working.
Rihanna, on the other hand, have her fans in an absolute uproar. They have been waiting on her album for over a year now. Every time we think she is going to drop new music, it is one of her many other business endeavors. While we cannot shame Rihanna one bit for the success of her FENTY Beauty and FENTY Savage lines, the fans want new music. When Lil Uzi Vert finally dropped Eternal Atake, he told his fans “When I drop, she drops. When she drops, I drop.” Unfortunately, we have gotten Uzi’s album and a deluxe, and still no Rihanna.
There is no way Rihanna is done with music though, right? So, when is she going to have her major comeback moment? What would put people over the edge? Perhaps, another Eminem collaboration? The two have collaborated together on multiple occasion. Love The Way You Lie (Parts 1 & 2), The Monster and Numb are all extraordinary hits from the two. Last year, an old, scrapped verse of Eminem’s had leaked to public, where he makes light of the very old Chris Brown and Rihanna situation. Which must have come to a shock of Rihanna’s as the two had become so close, Eminem instantly apologized for the leaked track, explained it was ten years old and never supposed to be see the light of day. No bad blood has been witnessed of the two since.
So, where are these Stans getting the idea that the two have a collaboration coming soon? Burn It Down Group is a media agency that provides information and resources to help their city. If you check out their Instagram page, the majority of posts right now are providing information and resources to support the Black Lives Matter Movements. In addition to this, Burn It Down Group has always heavily covered Eminem and what he has going on.
Just yesteryear, Burn It Down Group shared a photo with Eminem and Rihanna’s logos mashed together, with the staring side eyes emoji. Putting two iconic symbols together usually means one thing, and the Stans picked up on it immediately. We love an Eminem and Rihanna collab, so when is it coming? XXL picked up on the story immediately, as well as several other hip-hop blogs. Burn It Down Group got wind of the immense excitement, and instantly debunked the rumors. While he applauded the fans for being so die hard and picking up on this message so quickly, he shared that this post was from six years ago, when the team was prepping for the Monster Tour. He then shared a Time Hop image sharing that this was a memory from six years ago.
Eminem and Rihanna did the Monster Tour together in three cities from August 7th - August 23rd 2014. I was there, and it was probably the greatest day of my entire life. Not only had I had been waiting to see Eminem for my entire twenty years (at the time) of living, but watching Rihanna perform gave me an entirely new perspective on her as an artist. The talent between both was undeniable, and they worked together extremely well. They preformed together, during each of each other’s sets. Prior to the show starting, they filmed a little trailer for the crowd to watch right before they hit the stage. They used props and different levels stage, fireworks, visuals, everything was incredible. No one else could have pulled this off.
So Burn It Down Group shares an old logo with eye emojis, but says there is no new song. Do we believe him? In order to keep music from leaking, and keep the audience waiting, artists do have to be extremely careful. Is this how Eminem and Rihanna wanted their new hit to be leaked? Probably not. Why would they do this on the six year anniversary, rather than five?
Burn it Down Group has continued to share images of what The Marshall Mathers Foundation has been doing to give back to the city, since debunking these rumors. They’ve provided masks, waters, food, and more to those in need, and the Instagram page seems to be covering it all. We already knew this since the beginning of quarantine, that the Marshall Mathers Foundation was giving back, and that Eminem was looking for ways to give back to his local DJs that do not have gigs to play during these times, as well. With that, I do not necessarily think that is all she wrote with this new song rumor.
G Eazy and another female artist similarly just put out a song together after their first hit together in six years. Not that this compares in any way, but I can see the two getting together, during these really hard times, and dropping something powerful. We have been waiting for Rihanna to make her debut back in music for so long, I think Eminem could be the one to get her to do so.
I could be completely wrong and these guys could just be messing with us, but they knew what they were doing with those eye emojis. I am here, and I am ready, for the next Eminem and Rihanna collaboration.
