Thanksgiving Givebacks

11.27.20

Thanksgiving is a time where families come together, and be thankful for the lives we have. Whether it be wealth in goods, family, health, strength, etc. Not everyone has it all, but those whom have more than others, are looked upon to give back to those going through though times. This year especially, families are struggling. Though Turkey Drives have been a big thing for quite some time, many rappers and other influential people in the industry stepped up the plate this year to help out where they can.

A lot of negative has happened this year. From the pandemic, the senseless acts of violence and injustice, not the mention the constant wars that seem to be going on in hip-hop. It was a fresh change of topics to see all these artists going out to do good for their cities.

G Herbo has been passionate about doing givebacks in his hometown of Chicago for many years. Every year, him and his friends in Chicago do a Turkey drive where they are able to provide Turkey’s for those less fortunate in their town. G Herbo has also launched a platform to help those suffering from PTSD or other emotional mental illnesses.

French Montana lined up with members of City Harvest in this Bronx over this past weekend, to giveaway over 500 turkeys to families in need. Everyone was wearing masks, to be as safe a possible. A great gesture from the artist. Interesting though, that he decided to wear a fur yellow coat as he went to giveaway free birds. It is the thought the counts. Excuse the jokes.

Nick Cannon participated in the “Feed Your City Challenge” in Compton. He was able to provide a variety of foods and vegetables to families who needed them. Nick has always been one to provide help to those whom could use it, whether it be his friends in the industry trying to get their big break, or families of his surrounding neighborhoods that could use the extra bit of support.

2 Chainz, Dr. Dre, G Herbo, Common and others were all a part of the Feed Your City Challenge, in their own respective communities.

Ceaser from Black Ink Crew New York created a Black Ink Cares foundation, where they were able to provide 500 families in their city with food for Thanksgiving. Ceaser has taken his New York City tattoo shop and made it a country-wide franchise. He has come a long way, but always puts his friends and family of his hometown first. This was a great look from the brand, and they were able to help out a lot in a huge city.
