Snoop Dogg The Algorithm 11.19.21

This upcoming Friday, November 19th, Snoop Dogg is set to release his next project, The Algorithm, which may just close out 2021 as the hottest project of the year. Drake fans will say it’s up for discussion, but after Snoop dropped the twenty-five song tracklist, it’s hip-hop that simply cannot be beat. Not only has Snoop earned himself a new role at Def Jam, but he has been making power moves for the label, and this project is bound to do numbers.

The Algorithm will be Snoop’s first project since joining Def Jam as the Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant. This role is meant for Snoop to be researching and finding new talent for the label, and strategize to keep the talent roster and the brand on top. Being appointed to this role in June of this year, Snoop is set to drop his first project under the label in his new role. Not only that, but he also signed Benny the Butcher of Griselda as the new face of Def Jam Records.

Benny and the entire Griselda squad had been celebrating his new contract with Def Jam over the past weekend. Griselda had signed a deal with Shady Records a few years back, have joined management at Roc Nation, and now, Benny the Butcher finds himself leading the path once again, by signing to one of the most legendary hip-hop labels, Def Jam Records. It makes a lot of sense given Griselda’s placement in music. It feels like old-school hip-hop, it brings you back to hip-hop’s roots, and that is what Def Jam is all about. A powerful move by Snoop Dogg, and a smart one, for both sides of the party.

Benny the Butcher is listed as a feature on Snoop Dogg’s new project, The Algorithm. On top of that, there are many others coming along for the ride. Snoop shared the twenty-five song tracklist for the project, with over thirty other featured artists on the project. Clearly with Snoop’s new role on the label, he is much more than just an artist. He can be on both ends of the mic, coaching, A&R, listening, etc. We’ve seen him take people under his wing like NBA Youngboy earlier this year, him singing Benny, and now, with this new project, he made it a point that he would not be on each and every track on the playlist. Malaya, Jane Handcock, Choc, Heydeon, Nefertitti. Artists that may not be the most well-known, but that Snoop is familiar with, and enjoys working with. He gave all of these artists their own songs on his project.

On top of this, you have many of the old school hip-hop heads on the project, as well. From Redman and Mehtod Man, to Usher, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, Mary J Blige and of course Mount Westmore. Big Subwoofer is the Mount Westmore track from the project, which is currently available with a hilarious music video on YouTube.

There are plenty of younger artists, even with a variety of different sounds across the project, as well. Wiz Khalifa, D Smoke, Dave East, YK Osiris, Blxst and more.

Snoop has yet to let off his grind, from the music, to the new role, and even handing out soft drinks at a fast food restaurant. This project is sure to take us out for the rest of the year, and I truly cannot wait. Below is the full trakclist, which feature are you most looking forward to?
