Trey Songz Arrest
1.26.21
On Sunday afternoon, Trey Songz was arrested at Arrowhead Stadium during the battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in the showdown for the AFC Championship. While just trying to have his own fun and watch some great football like the rest of us, Trey caught himself in a battle of his own, between the fans, and then a number of police officers. Though he is walking freely now, we will review what really went down on Sunday at Arrowhead.
So, of course the ultimate issue of this whole scenario comes down to the coronavirus. In many arenas, there are no fans allowed in attendance whatsoever. However, in some areas, the stadiums allow a percentage of fans to come, enjoy the game, and social distance. There are still many COVID protocols in place, one of which, being that you must wear a mask at all times. Now, if you are standing more than six feet apart from another party and you are basically outside with endless ventilated air flow, perhaps you feel as though you should have not have to wear a mask. It is protocol, and should absolutely be enforced, but you can see why people may not be as careful.
Trey Songz was not wearing a mask while watching the game. Police reports state that the fans were heckling him for quite some time, because of this. I would assume they were asking him to wear a mask, or perhaps telling me he was too good to wear a mask because of stardom. However, it was Trey Songz hushing his hecklers, that drew an officer to approach Trey. According to Trey Songz camp, and nearby voices in the leaked video, it does appear that the cop approached Trey and immediately became aggressive. The officer was put in a headlock, by Trey Songz, who allegedly also landed a punch to the head.
After numerous backup arrived on the scene, Trey was pinned to a seat, with the officer still folded over, and Trey was arrested. The police reports state that Trey was arrested on trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer charges. (Since it is required to a wear a mask in the stadium, refusal to abide by the rules is considered trespassing) It appears the police officer was accompanied by two sheriffs and a security guard, at least. This was clearly a situation that got out of control quickly. Sad, that is all stemmed from not wearing a mask. Something that could have been easily avoided on Trey’s end, but also something you would think the officer would be able to handle better by now.
Not only did the video of the arrest go viral, but so did Trey Songz booking photo. It is not a typical mugshot, but rather himself sitting in the booking room, typically where you wait for 24 hours before they assign you to a cell. Trey was not arrested on any charges, rather placed on a 24 hour hold (which, according to TMZ, did not even last that long). The photo has driven so much attention, because of how triggered Trey looks sitting there. He looks like he has been in there much longer than a few hours, needs a haircut, and is still yelling at someone. However, if we go to The Shade Room’s comments, all the ladies are still here for this look from Trey.
Trey Songz was reportedly released yesterday around 10AM PST. No tweets or comments from the artist directly, but we are glad to have him back with no major injuries or issues. Overall, it seems like the fans are more excited than anything, after getting to witness Trey put an officer in a full-blown headlock for being way to aggressive. Hopefully he has that positive energy as he walks free, and can put that energy into some new music soon. But guys, if you are going to go out, wear your masks.
