Playboi Carti Whole Lotta Red Release Date 12/25 (not confirmed)

Playboi Carti announced his new, upcoming album, Whole Lotta Red, two years ago. This is one of those Kanye West scenarios when we are just waiting, we think it is going to drop, and nothing happens. While fans have been disappointed many times before, Carti and his team have been dropping a few hints that suggest the project could finally be on the way.

In late November, Playboi Carti mentioned that the album was finally turned in. On Thursday, he posted on Instagram saying that his album was going to drop soon. Since then, he has posted several times with interesting messages like, “I love you” and “I miss you.” Fans can only hope that he is talking to them, and will be returning to them with this highly anticipated album, at any given moment. Unfortunately, it did not come on Friday, but do not loose your hope so quickly.

Just yesterday, Playboi Carti posted an image of him with Kid Cudi. Kid Cudi just released a new album, Man on the Moon 3. Carti wrote that he loved Cudi’s music, and that he would be on Whole Lotta Red. Dropping hints to the tracklist is a positive sign, since those things need to be cleared off on, and can be changed or altered at any given moment. Trippie Redd entered the comments on this post saying “Yours too? ;)” which means he may have a new project coming out, that also includes Kid Cudi. Some side tea if you are interested.

On top of the Kid Cudi announcement, Playboi Carti also announced that Lil Uzi Vert would be on the album. This announcement came on Lil Uzi himself an Instagram Live. He stated that he was on track three, and also did the hook on track sixteen. This pairing is one that I would have expected, but definitely gives us some information that if accurate, we will have a lengthy album. Many artists have been going the seven track route than putting out a deluxe, which would finally make it a true album. However, if Uzi is not messing with us, we should have a full length project coming up. Which, Carti fans absolutely deserve after waiting two full years.

What may really give away the idea Whole Lotta Red should be coming soon, is the massive graffiti walls that have been shared on Instagram by art directors, producers, and fashion designers close to Carti. These graffiti showcase city garage doors, large painted walls, windows of buildings, and coverage of existing billboards. The texts say “WLR 12/25” As well as “WLR. The world will be red soon.” One can only assume this is a media strategy to release the album finally, on Christmas Day.

The issue here is, if he does not drop, he is going to ruin a number of people Christmas Day, and would have waisted tons of funds (or at least effort, maybe some legal chances if this was not paid for). On the other hand, if it does drop, I do not see it being anything worth waiting two years for. Playboi Carti fans are going to adore whatever this project is. I am sure there will be more fun dances, things to Tik Tok too and funny punch lines here and there. Dr. Dre refused to drop The Chronic because he knew it would never live up to the hype that it set out to do. I have a feeling that is how this is going to go. However, Carti is not at the place in his life that he can expect that from him fans. I hope that he is not attempting to force this, and will finally release Whole Lotta Red, on Christmas Day.
