PUMA has teamed up the Black Fives Foundation for their next partnership and collaboration. The Black Fives were the first African American basketball team to emerge in the very early 1900s. Today, their foundation has a mission to preserve and educate the youth and other’s around those very important people, who paved the way for basketball to be the great, inclusive sport it is today.

In February, PUMA kicked off the Black Fives collaboration with an apparel collection drop. Now, they are ready to release some footwear and two of the their top styles: the Future Rider, and the Clyde Mid. The Clyde Mid is definitely more basketball-eqsue when it comes to footwear. The rendition of the model is a sail colored, canvas-like material, with some raised, knitted materials that make up the colorful formstripe. The Future Rider is more lifestyle. It uses the same technique on the formstripe, and also has a handwritten message on the outsole “make history now.” This sneaker is a bit more colorful, but overall quite neutral with dark blue being the primary color.

There should be no problem picking up a pair of these sneakers on the PUMA website, or directly through Black Fives. I definitely doing so, such an amazing story, and I like the product a lot. I will be going for the Clyde Mid, then I might double back and get the Future Riders, too.
