Inline or Collaboration Sneakers?
4.11.20
Everyone loves a dope collaboration sneaker. But, are you down with the inline if you miss your chance to cop? Or perhaps, was the collaboration just a bit too over the top to be wearable, and you’re the type to only spend money on kicks you’re going to have in the weekly rotation. Either way, it is definitely important to have the inline version of a collab, or at least something similar, that people can go to for a lesser price and easier access, especially with all the bots and resellers today.
Above is the Air Jordan 1 Mid SE “Multicolor” along with the Melody Ehsani Air Jordan 1 Mid “Fearless.” Melody Ehsani’s sneaker dropped in November, retailing at $130. Now, they are on reseller apps like Stock X starting at $650. The Air Jordan 1 SE “Mulicolor” just dropped on Friday, at a just slightly smaller retail tag at $125. The smaller sizes are still available for retail. Looks like the men may have went after this release, and I bet it was because they missed out Melody’s launch. These are also on reseller apps for retail, or just slightly above. So, you can see that the hype is clear for one over the other. Does this make up your decision?
The inline feels so similar because of the multi color patches, and different textures on each and every pattern piece. Melody’s version uses cool colors on one shoe, and warm colors on the other, making this a multi color mismatch pair. Her pair also sticks out with giant watch faces as shoe tags at the end of the lacing system. The inline includes a much smaller shoe tag with the Jordan logo. Similar to this, the inline feels a lot more sleek, more slim around the ankle, less chunky on the sole, less thick with the pattern pieces over all. With that, I think the inline is more wearable for females. Since it is a women’s shoe, and females are starting to wear sneakers more and more, even dressing them up with skirts, dresses and jumpsuits, I like the more sleek style here. Obviously for flexing, wearing jeans, parachute pants, etc., the Melody version will have people applauding your ‘W’ daily. However, with these color ways, I think they’re both going to pull looks.
Verdict: Inline to rock. Collab to flex, if you must.
