Tekashi 6ix9ine, Nicki Minaj Trollz Released 6.11.20

The unthinkable has happened, as Tekashi 6ix9ine is given his first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Trollz dropped about a week ago, featuring Nicki Minaj, as it debuted at number one. We could only guess this would happen, as one of the most praised females in hip-hop of all time joins forces with the ultimate rat of hip-hop, where people are watching his every move to see what he has to say next.

This is Nick Minaj’s second number one on the Billboard Hot 100, receiving her first just a few weeks ago on Doja Cat’s ‘Say So Remix.’ Frankly, 6ix9ine believes this should have been his second as well, after his latest single Gooba, came in at number three a few weeks prior. 6ix9ine called out Billboard for fixing their numbers, and stopping real streams from getting him his number one. Whether or not Billboard took this blowup into consideration, they certainly gave it to him this week. No, he is not being humble about it, either.

Trollz replaced DaBaby’s Rockstar at number one. Though 6ix9ine did make a comment on social media that Lil Baby’s The Bigger Picture should have got number one, he would not hold back his enthusiasm. Lil Baby’s The Bigger Picture came in this week at number three. A song dedicated to his past and what he has experienced regarding police brutality in America. Lil Baby has been nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards to be aired this weekend, and I think he has a great shot.

After 6ix9ine recognizes Lil Baby’s song with a purpose, he brings us back his trolling tactics. First, a video of him popping champagne, screaming, that he cannot be stopped. Without any radio time, or spots on Apple Music or Spotify Playlists, he made it to number one. Truthfully, I did not think this song had what it took to make it, but it did. Could it be because of the likes of Nicki Minaj? Could it be people watching to hate? Could it be, that Tekashi has real fans?

Akademiks from the Breakfast Club is a good friend of 6ix9ine, and since hearing the news has posted a Tweet saying, “numbers don’t lie.” To this, Meek Mill posted his own tweet saying this is a false statement. I mean, if you’re going to accuse Billboard of fixing their numbers, whose to say you and your camp weren’t playing your song on repeat all day to fix your own? On top of that, how many people are just watching to see what on earth you have to say, but never playing it again because it’s not to enjoy the song, it’s just to laugh or keep updated. I suppose numbers could lie.

Either way, Akademiks and 6ix9ine are drinking Patron and celebrating together. While doing so, 6ix9ine creates another video he posts to Instagram, calling out everyone he has had beef with over the past few weeks, who has never received a number one. He calls out Future, saying he’s been in the game for over a decade, has many Drake features, and no number one. Meek Mill has been around for almost a decade, and no number one. Lil Durk, G Herbo, Gucci Mane and Trippie Redd, no number ones. 6ix9ine even goes as far as to say that every new, male rapper from New York, has no number one. This could be A Boogie, Lil TJay, Don Q, the list goes on. Overall, I think with all this New York trash talking going on, he is reclaiming himself the king of his city.

We’ll have to see if anyone rebuttals, but I think point, why bother? All we can ask for is new music from our favorites, which will sweep this song right out of the top five. However, Gooba did just become certified Platinum as of Friday. How long will the success of the rainbow-haired artist last? Who knows.

6ix9ine’s house arrest is over in about another month. His lawyers have spoken out, sharing their concerns of what his ego and past antics will bring, as he walks the streets freely.
