Lil Durk & G Herbo ‘Chiraq Demons’ 3/21/20

This song came out this morning, so it just missed the “The Music Friday” showdown. I figured we need to talk about it, since COVID is somehow managing to leave us with a shortage of new music. That’s a different story we’ll talk about, though.

Lil Durk either comes with the vocals for the ladies, or a horror story from his past. You can tell by the name of the song which one this is going to be, but he starts the song saying “No auto Durk shit, real Chiraq demons.” I like singing Durk, but I’m always down to take it to the streets (musically of course).

That’s what Durk and G Herbo do here, as they go verse for verse letting go of all of their “Chiraq Demons.” This track comes about two weeks after the release of G Herbo’s album PTSD. Lil Durk was on the album, but he was on his singing auto-tune vibe, so I’m sure he had to call on G Herbo to do one more letting out how he really feels. He mentions PTSD on his first line, so I think it’s a really great track to follow up on the album release from. It just makes sense that they’re able to tell their story, and hopefully let go of all of these demons, and way of life.

We all know, and he shares on this song, that Lil Durk still has a pending case. Durk is currently out on bond, after being arrested for being the alleged shooter in an attempted murder case, from last February. G Herbo just pleaded guilty to the battery charges with his baby mother, this past January. They’re both free men, on thin ice. So hopefully they’re both just locking themselves up in their studios and continuing to give us new songs to listen to, and not new cases.

This song does not have a chorus. Just straight, intense verses. I do like this song a lot. A good one if you’re trying to fire yourself up to conquer your next task. That is my favorite type of song.
