Chrome 23

It is no news that females have been taking over the rap game, the hip-hop industry and the music scene as a whole. Remy Ma, however, has plans to take it to a whole new level. What has been in the works for a while now, is ready to come to fruition, as Remy Ma goes back to her roots of battle rap, and announcing an all-women league.

Over the weekend, Remy Ma officially announced that her all women rap battle league, Chrome 23, will debut their first show on February 27th. Remy has a past in battle rap, and the space has been picking up interest again over the past few years. Accessibility to viewing is sometimes an issues, and the females involved are typically slim to none. The industry as a whole is known as a male dominant space, but Remy is ready to make some boss moves and give her lady battle rappers a platform.

The full trailer for the launch of Chrome 23 has been released, and highlights a number of ladies whom we should expect to see in the first showcase. Prista Via from Brooklyn, Yoshi G from San Fransisco, Casey Jay from San Antonio, O’Fficial from New Orleans, Couture from Providence, Ms Hustle from Harlem, QBBlack Diamond from Bridgeport and 40 Barrs from Boston will all be contenders in this new showcase highlight female artists will rhyme schemes, bars, metaphors, smilies, and all that lyricism entails.

Remy Ma notes that Chrome 23 is an all female rap battle league for women, supporting women, ran by women to push the culture forward equally. The live events will be invite only, but available for streaming through Hot97 platforms, and the Chrome 23 socials.

While certainly in the early stage, Remy Ma is a business women with success in the space, so it is sure to be a hit. Currently, there are only nine profiles that the social is following, which includes Remy, her husband Papoose, and a few others like Pepsi, Ciroc and Triller. I can only assume that these are some sponsors that we will see get involved throughout the livestreams, and potential new platforms to stream from.

As the females are really crushing the mainstream artistry at the moment, I think it is incredible what Remy Ma is able to do within her community of battle rap. This should certainly be an exciting moment for the battle rap industry, and hip-hop as a whole. I cannot wait to tune in.
