DaBaby Drama Continues

DaBaby

DaBaby is an artist that I have wanted to see grow and be great, but he just cannot seem to stay out of trouble. This past week, DaBaby has been in headlines yet again, for multiple different reasons. All concerning controversy, and violence.

When it comes down to the music, DaBaby has been a super star. It had seemed that every song he dropped, was a super hit, record of the season. Though critics would say that all his music sounded the same, he would come out with something that teetered off from the norm, showcasing he is a true musical talent, with versatility.

Interestingly enough, as the cancelation trends began to go off, and DaBaby continues to find himself getting into trouble, there has not been a real hit that has stuck in quite some time from DaBaby. He last released a collab project, Better Than You, with NBA Youngboy. The project had just over 29,000 unit sales in week one, but prior to this, he was not getting much love on his solo singles he’d be releasing back-to-back, specifically, the Sneaky Link Anthem.

The controversial cheating song came too soon to be cute after DaBaby’s public feuding with baby mama, DaniLeigh. Shortly after, DaBaby got into a physical altercation with DaniLeigh’s brother in a bowling alley. Since then, the drama has not folded, and has actually picked up greatly in just the past week.

Last week, DaBaby apparently shot an intruder, who broke into his home. He tweeted about the situation, as if it were almost a comical situation, insinuating he did not deserve to live, and DaBaby did him a favor by allowing him to do so.

"Chose not to take a n*** life the other day & it felt great. Buddy ain't deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don't bring ya ass back."

A home intrusion certainly warrants a self defense mechanism, but this seems to be DaBaby’s case all too often.

Not only did DaBaby just get into a fight with his own artist, Wisdom, but old videos have emerged from a previous case that have people questioning DaBaby’s cries for self-defense.

There does not seem to be too much known about the recent altercation with Wisdom. However, there is a video going around that appears to be DaBaby swinging on Wisdom, followed by a bit of a brawl between the two. Just last year, the two of them were taken into policy custody due to being involved in a shooting in Miami. Wisdom, had been the one to get arrested. The relationship seems iffy, if you ask me. Wisdom does not seem to be too bothered, however, as he continues to post on social, promoting his new music.

If this mess is not enough, people are now revisiting an old video from the 2018 altercation, where DaBaby killed a man in Walmart, and became free by his claims of self-defense. The blogs are saying that the video is never-before-seen-footage, clearly showcasing that DaBaby was the instigator in the altercation, meaning that it could not have been self-defense.

The video itself indeed looks pretty bad. Though, I am certain that if there was Walmart surveillance videos from an altercation so serious, they would have been found and used in court. There is nothing that bringing up this video can do now about the case, but it can continue to make DaBaby look really, really bad.

Many opportunities have lended themselves to DaBaby. His music career take off, decently successful signees on his label, and the industry backing him, and giving him support. We previously discussed 50 Cent mentoring DaBaby, trying to get him to keep himself out of trouble. Unfortunately, it does not seem like that is happening. With this, I see the music career evaporating, as it seems to be dwindling already.

Do we still root for DaBaby to overcome his problems? Or are we freeing ourselves from the problematic artist for good?
