Dream Trip Gone Wrong

Meek Mill

Any fans of Meek Mill here would probably recognize how much excitement he posted on social media about his upcoming trip to Ghana. Now if you have been following along with the trip itself, it seems like it went less than amazing. From a missing phone to a fight outside the concert, there was one thing that triggered the Country Meek was thrilled to visit.

We know Meek Mill’s love for riding dirt bikes, and doing stunts through the streets. Which, it seems like he was able to do while in Ghana, which is at least one win for a trip that seems from a far like it did not go so well. Meek Mill was visiting as he was headlining a festival. While he said the love overpowered all else, there was an altercation while entering the vicinity, and he was allegedly pick-pocketed, or at least, had lost his phone in the mess, though it was later returned. However, Meek seemed to continue to be in positive spirits, and even went to work a bit further.

Meek decided to film a music video while in Ghana, which seems to be the largest of his issues that have went down during this trip. The music video was filmed inside of the Jubilee House, which in essence, is like the United States White House. While many were excited to see content throughout the trip, much of Ghana was surprised, and unhappy, that filming took place within the Jubilee House. To those whom did not like this move, stated that Jubilee House is a place for security, and faith - not a studio.

Meek Mill has since taken down the video, and shared his apologies. It was not his intention to disrespect the culture, or anyone there. He actually wanted to educate and spread awareness about the culture and country that he, all in all, loved visiting. There is no doubt in my mind this was apology was sincere, and hopefully Meek can continue to work with the community to learn about their culture and support in ways that everyone feels more comfortable with.

To the point of Meek Mill enjoying giving back to organizations that matter to him, Michael Rubin, Kevin Hart and himself have pledged to donate $7 million to Philadelphia-area educational causes, mainly supporting scholarships for low-income students at private schools in the 2023-24 school year.
