Hood Poet
6.14.23
Polo G joined Power 106 for his third freestyle with Justin Credible. The Chicago native rhymed over Ja Rule’s classic record, New York, which Polo G recognizes as he says he loves New York and wanted to do something different. In doing so, he also announces a new album is on the way.
Polo G’s last album was Hall of Fame and 2021. Though there were a few features and singles here and there, he has been relatively quiet as of late. During his Rap Caviar interview, he mainly discussed the impact his street past has had on him moving in the positive direction of his music career. However, it appears the time has finally come where Polo G is near ready to release some new music. Not only do artists tend to hop in the booth to freestyle on the radio when it’s time to drop new music, but he ends his freestyle saying a new album is on the way.
While we do not have a date yet, Polo G had a lot of fun on this one. He dissed NBA player Dillion Brooks who has been trending lately for trolling Lebron James, then loosing to him in the finals. He makes several other name drop references from hip-hop artists, athletes, actors and old television series. As Polo G wraps up his rhymes he calls himself the “Hood Poet” and chose this beat to try something new.
Polo G has a tough past with a lot of deep things to tell, he on top of just being able to rap, he can always put together a solid flow and sing his way through to really grab a crowd’s attention.
