NBA Youngboy, Snoop Dogg

NBA Youngboy, Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg might be known as the industry Uncle of hip-hop, but that does not mean that he has to treat everyone like family. We have heard loud and clear his thoughts on snitching, and people such as Tekashi 6ix9ine. One would think, that Snoop Dogg is not all the way down with the new wave of hip-hop, but it appears he does have his eyes on one young artist.

At just twenty years old, NBA Youngboy has been dropping mixtapes since he was fifteen. Sixteen mixtapes, one album, plenty of singles and a handful of children that are hard to keep up with, some may be surprised how young he really is. Though he has certainly been through a lot, there is a lot of growing up the artist needs to do. It seems he is constantly getting into trouble, whether it be with different females or artists. Perhaps Snoop saw something in him and wanted to help.

When I think about NBA Youngboy, I just cannot get his Complex Sneaker Shopping episode out of my head. It was back in 2018, I was excited to see it because he was the new hot artist in the game. It was quite honestly the worst interview I have ever seen in my life. He could barely make to sentences, and what he was saying just did not sound right. When it comes down to his music, he does drop so consistently, but there really is not anything to stands out to me super strongly. I have previously wrote about NBA and put people like NLE Choppa above him, because the music is more memorable, easy to sing along to, and he was somehow able to put the violence behind him much more quick than it seems to be taking NBA Youngboy.

Either way you look at the music, NBA has been around the longest. He is the new era of these young, rap artists. Snoop Dogg may just be looking out to get his head on right and keep hip-hop alive, opposed to the SoundCloud rappers sound that has taken hip-hop and turned it into something much different than what we know it to be. DJ Akademiks shares a video of Snoop Dogg and NBA Youngboy together, where it appears Snoop is giving advice to NBA on his music. He can be heard saying:

“I like it. This does not come to everybody. But you got it.”

NBA stands there listening. It looks quite meaningful. Were they recording together, or was Snoop just around giving his opinions?

Well, it seems like the two have continued to spend some quality time together. Snoop Dogg has recently posted a video to his own Instagram page, stating that they have just gotten pulled over. Snoop seems all smiles while sitting in the car, saying he got pulled over by the police, and ‘this man.’ As he pans the camera over, it seems like someone Snoop is close with, who is dancing for the video. Snoop says:

Thank God I know the man, or else I might be going to jail.

Next up he shares that he is in the car with his nephew, panning over to NBA Youngboy in the passenger seat. Viewers can also see others searching the car during this time, but they do not appear to be cops of any sort. Many believe that this could be the set of an upcoming music video. So, it is very likely that the duo do have a joint project on the way.

Hopefully NBA Youngboy is able to take Snoop Dogg’s advice and get his head on straight. This is not the only big name he has been working with lately, either. NBA recently posted photos on a video set with Nicki Minaj. This came just a few weeks after Nicki announcing her pregnancy. It seems like she is anxious to get out as many hits as she can before giving birth. Another very interesting duo, but could be a fun song. NBA said that he was introduced to Nicki one time when he went to meet up with Meek Mill at his condo, and she was over (back in the day, obviously). It seems that hip-hop is down for NBA Youngboy, so hopefully he can use his resources to grow and stick around a bit.
