The Hegelian Dialect 2: Book of Heroine 9.30.22

Prodigy is a name in hip-hop, that whether or not you were here for his prime, you know how special he was, and still is, to the industry. Prodigy grew up in a very musical household, and ended up being one half of the legendary rap duo, Mobb Deep. His tragic passing in 2017 left us without more music that fans had been longing for, and knew existed. Well, the time seems to have come that new music will be received.

Earlier this year, Prodigy’s estate released a new single, You Will See, as they restored his music on streaming services. It was mentioned that Prodigy’s catalog was removed from streaming services, and took until now to get them back live with the hopes of releasing new music, in order to best protect what was rightfully his and should go to his family. With the releases of You Will See, fans were told that a new project would release at some time in the back half of 2022. We are here, and we are ready. Yesterday, the Rock the Bells Instagram page confirmed that Prodigy’s first posthumous album will be dropping this Friday, September 30th.

The name of the upcoming Prodigy album will be The Hegelian Dialect 2: Book of Heroine, which of course appears to be a sequel to The Hegelian Dialect that was released by Prodigy before his passing in 2017. This project should be filled with tracks that Prodigy had previously recorded and finished, prior to the time of his passing. The project is twelve tracks long and includes features from artists such as Berto Rich, DJ Premier, Faith Evans, Remy Ma, Big Daddy Kane and more.

Posthumous albums can be a touchy subject when it comes to when it was released, how it was released, and why it was released. I love that this album will be all old tracks that Prodigy had previously recorded, and appears to have been planning on releasing as a sequel to an already delivered album. It appears his team really did their due diligence to make sure they could honor Prodigy and keep his legacy and work protected when releasing this project.

I am absolutely here for the album, and cannot wait until tomorrow to listen.
