The Book of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller 10.26.21

It has been almost three years since we lost Mac Miller, yet his music and spirit has not faded in the slightest. Mac was growing up with us, while he was getting rich and famous. It was like, one of those artists you could just relate to, because he was going to high school when you were, and experiencing and learning from life, just as you were. Of course, after high school, Mac Miller continued to grow in fame with his music career, which we saw take all kinds of changes. Some good, and some bad. If you are one of those fans who loved his music or even simply his spirit, today will bring some exciting news. Later this year, a book will be released in Mac’s honor, titled The Book of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller.

Donna-Claire Chesman is an author, and editorial director at Audiomack. That means if there is two things she knows, it is music and writing. Donna-Claire is the author of the 320 page book that will be released, exploring the life and music of Mac Miller, while reflecting on each piece of work from his close friends and family. Over thirty friends and family members were interviewed over the course of the past few years in order to make this book come to life. Some interviews include Wiz Khalifa, Kehlani, Just Blaze and of course the Most Dope family.

An excerpt from the Amazon Pre-Order page describes this book as:

“An album-by-album celebration of the life and music of Mac Miller through oral histories, intimate reflections, and critical examinations of his enduring work.”

To go album by album, you have to uncover Mac Miller’s six studio albums, and most certainly his thirteen mixtapes. Since 2007 Mac Miller had be releasing hits that made a massive impact on the hip-hop industry, gaining an immense amount of credit from other artists in the scene.

Mac’s album Swimming was released in August of 2018, shortly prior to his passing. The album was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammy’s in 2019, and as of this past February, became Mac Miller’s first album to become Certified Platinum, meaning selling the equivalent of over 1,000,000 copies of the album.

Through previous interviews and the television show Mac Miller once had, you saw how passionate he was about his music and his craft. At given moment, he would start rhyming and putting words together, and checking your vibe to see if you were feeling what he was working on. It will certainly be a treat to hear from his friends and hopefully from himself as well, of what this process was like for him.

Surely, there will be plenty of notes about the things that Mac struggled with, as well. Him and his family were always quite open and honest about these things. These pieces of information will not only allow us to get deeper with Mac, and see what he was going through, but hopefully help others whom are going through similar situations.

All in all, this should be an outstanding piece of work to keep us close with Mac Miller. The book will release later this year on October 26th, but is available for pre-order now on Amazon. I have already ordered mine.
