After Tom Brady leaves New England distraught for leaving us after twenty seasons, the Patriots sign another big deal quarterback. Cam Newton, former NFL MVP has just signed a one year contract with the New England Patriots.

Prior to the NFL, Cam won the 2010 Heisman Trophy at Auburn. He was later drafted number one overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, by the Carolina Panthers. In 2015, Cam won the NFL MVP, though loosing in the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos. In 2019, a foot injury took Cam out of the game, and was released by the Panthers at the end of the season.

If Cam Newton is coming back healthy, this could be exciting for the Patriots. Everyone thought the dynasty was over, but Belichick seems to always have a plan. Derrick Carr did a recent interview saying he believes that if Cam does come back at one hundred percent, he could be the Patriots starting quarterback for the next ten years. Otherwise, I am sure Bill has a backup, to build, in mind.

Tom Brady responds to the news on an Instagram post, seemingly supporting the decision. He tags Under Armour, who sponsors both quarterbacks, sharing their multiple similarities.

The move to get Cam Newton is great. A former MVP taking the spot of someone loved by all of New England and hated by everyone else. It surely was a rough breakup, but this move will allow us to think about healing. Bringing a new star into the mix, will absolutely have people talking, buying new merchandise, and excited to come to see him play.

Hopefully 2020 football does not get too harmed by the horrid coronavirus.
