Over this past weekend, we saw an unlikely pairing of boxing opponents, with an outcome that seemed to shock the world. YouTube personality, Jake Paul, stepped into the ring with former NBA athlete Nate Robinson, and the outcome was not at all what we had hoped for. Most likely. Because Nate Robinson got knocked out in the second round, leading to Jake Paul’s second professional fight win, by KO.

Why would these two step into a boxing ring together, to fight? Well, Nate Robinson had decided to leave the NBA two seasons ago, and has been trying new ways and new leagues to remain active. Earlier this year, when Jake Paul stepped into the professional boxing ring for the first time and won by knock out, Nate Robinson called him out for it. Nate said that his previous Win was not much to gloat over, because it was a win over another YouTube personality. Perhaps, if Jake Paul could beat Nate Robinson, an actual athlete, this would be a major accomplishment of Jake Paul.

The two had plenty of words for each other, up until the point of their actual fight, where they were the co-main event for Mike Tyson versus Roy Jones Jr. After Robinson’s knockout, the world had plenty to say.

Many trolled the athlete, while others praised him for the risk he decided to take. Some played a part in the social media challenge “The Nate Robinson Challenge” while others suggested a learning lesson to come from this defeat. Then you have people like Yaya Mayweather, who seemed disgusted with the night overall. She claims the industry has made boxing “a joke,” asking when did boxing become a concert? This was due to the many live performances through the night, including one from Snoop Dogg whom also commentated the fights. For many, this was their favorite moment of the night. So overall, there were many mixed opinions of the night. Here are some of the most shocking comments on the way the night played out.

Floyd Mayweather offered many encouraging words for Nate, and he shares an only photo of the two, together. Not only does he express standing up for Nate through the good and bad, but questioning other friends and brothers who are kicking him while he is down. Mayweather is going through a lot himself, while his daughter continues to draw headlines for not the best reasons, but he will be gearing up to be a grandfather soon, which is something to be thankful for. It seems like Mayweather will be a great mentor for the baby, or Nate Robinson-should he want to get back in the ring, who ever needs him at the given moment in time.

Rick Ross is disturbed with the way that people are picking on Nate Robinson. He shares an array of Instagram stories, saying you know what man, this is not your expertise, and we understand that, and we still rock with you. When Ross got word of the “Nate Robinson Challenge” where people are basically planking and playing dead, as of describing how Robinson looked after the knock out, Ross urges people cut the foolery and put some respect on his name. He takes us to his closet filled with basketball jerseys, and throws on his Nate Robinson jersey. Apparently, they are both Wing Stop ambassadors, and tells Nate to go relax with some wings.

Initially, Steph Curry is showing props and respect for Nate Robinson. The NBA was truly rooting for Nate to come up on top, and give the NBA their flowers. However, when this did not go as planned, many clowned him. Prior to the fight, Nate Robinson responded to a retweet from Steph saying he would shock the world. After the knockout had happened, Steph responded “I see no lies.” This was a bit of a mockery to Nate, saying he did shock the world because the last thing we expected was for him to go down so hard and heavy. Many people took this as hysterical, many took it as quite rude.

Chris Brown simply laughs when he sees the results of the fight. Wouldn’t he be an interesting pairing against Jake Paul?

Bloc Boy JB gets on his Instagram and says “Jake Paul you gotta come see me.” He says he does not like the way the fight with Nate Robinson went down, and now he wants to try his own luck in the ring against the YouTube, and now perhaps boxing, star. I cannot quite say I would be any more comfortable with Bloc Boy in the ring. But would I want to see it? Absolutely.

I love Tami Roman, and think she does give great advice. Her message clearly states that Nate was not ready for that battle, but that this should be okay. We are not superhero and cannot take on every challenge on our own. People have trained their entire lives to enter this ring, which he did for a different sport. Not everything is meant to be, which I am sure he learned prior to this tweet, himself.

Shannon Sharpe takes multiple jabs at Nate Robinson, and asks where does the culture go from here? I thought the Knicks colors was a funny joke, bring some light laughter into the moment. Some may have found it insensitive or too soon, but you got to laugh at yourself sometimes, do you not?

Lebron James comments on Sharpe’s post, who is clearly laughing with him, at Nate. I think this is in good spirits. The only actual comment seen from Lebron was how much he loved Snoop Dogg’s commentating throughout the night.

Swaggy P says the NBA does not claim Nate Robinson after that performance. But does the NBA claim you?

Nate shares some positive words that is he doing just fine, and he appreciates the opportunity, and the love and respect from those whom are on his side. Shaq, as well as many others, share their words of positive encouragement after the event.
