Styling the Air Max Tailwind IV NRG

5.28.20

I have been wanting a pair of Air Max Tailwinds for quite some time. It is a combination for a slimmer sneaker from the upper, but a chunky trainer with the sole and of course the air bubble technology. Honestly, it is one of those shoes that are pretty ugly or different looking, but when you wear it right way, it’s extremely dope. I’ve been waiting to find the colorway that fits me the most. I almost went for the green and yellow, but ended up going with the orange, and I love it. The silver piping is also 3M, so I have some pretty cool photos with the flash on as well.

So if you do not know how to style this super athletic, different looking sneaker, here are some looks for everyone to rock.

Take Off

Big t-shirts and biker shorts are just the greatest trend the summer has to offer. If you’re worried about wearing biker shorts, you really just have to make sure you get the legit ones, not cloth see-through material. These biker shorts from Urban Outfitters are thick, they are lined, and they even have side pockets to hold your phone. NASA graphics are big but I really just love that it matches the bold orange from the sneakers, while the gray shorts match the silver piping, and makes this an overall super chill complete look.

Fire Starter

I mentioned this in my last styling video, but bringing cute and street elements together in one outfit, is my favorite. When I picked out these sneakers, the model was wearing the track pant and I absolutely had to have them. I love the material, the buckle belt, and the large swoosh at the ankle. I would pair these kicks and pants with any cute, fitted crop top. Here I have white, but have also gone with a black lace crop top. A baggy pant and fitted top will really show off that you know what you’re doing and feel confident in your wardrobe.

Own The Streets

Similar to above, I brought together a cute element, and a sport element, together in one look. A simple, black maxi dress is essential in everyones wardrobe, and it goes with everything. But that is a little basic, so let’s spice it up. Here I added a Nike crop top to layer on top of the dress, with color blocking to accent the sneakers. Since it’s short, you should still be showing off the full features of the dress. I would also recommend the hoodie that is basically just sleeves and a hood that lots of people wear with tank tops underneath.

See Through The Haters

Because anyone who says you cannot make sneakers cute, is just wrong. Maybe all you can think of is black and white when you’re rocking orange sneakers, but there is still so much you can do with black and white. Here, I have black high-rise shorts. I like them because even though they’re high-rise, they are still pretty boxy and a comfortable length. Since they are essentially baggy shorts, through on a fitted top or bralette. Bringing it all together, I added this sheer and lace dress to add on top. It will bring the look together and make the shorts and crop top acceptable. I also think the sheer material on top of the black will help this look blend into the black and silver accents of the kicks.

Last Minute Lunch Date

When you have to look cute, but have absolutely zero energy left, this look has got you covered. This black long dress may look boring, but the details are cute. The top is a button up that can be handled as pleased, as well as a long slip in the front so you can show off your kicks. My dress came with a matching scrunchie, but I recommend black or orange to match the kicks if you’re in a rush and don't have time to do your hair. Then a black clutch to carry your things. Look classy, while being completely effortless, and still stunting on everyone’s shoe game. What else do you need?
