Styling the PUMA x Black Fives Clyde Mid

4.9.21

PUMA recently collaborate with the Black Fives Foundations for Black History month. The Black Fives were an all-black basketball team that existed in the United States between 1904 and 1950, being the first to really come together and make a statement. Today, the Black Fives Foundation continues to teach and inspire the youth about their history, and being credible people today. Not only is it an amazing story, but I am in love with these Clyde Mid sneakers from the collection.

The Clyde Mid is typically a leather upper, and not as popular as the lows. However, this mid is a mix of textiles, including a canvas upper with a teddy cloth sweater material for the formstripe. The formstripe is a mix of blues and yellows, while the laces are a royal blue. There is detailing on the heels citing “make history now,” and the soles have a black brushed paint over them, making them look like they’ve been worn through some things. Overall, I really love these sneakers, think they are different and super cool, and yes, we can dress them both up and down.

SoUle Mates

Had to go with the blue prints for this week’s For The SoUle look. I would definitely rock this For The SoUle Logo Crop Top with a pair of light or medium wash high waisted jeans, and my chain belt to spice it up a bit. Layer a bit for those chilly nights with this half denim half sweater hoodie, and maybe a scrunchie to either accessorize, or sport it up a bit by rocking that high pony. No More Cloudy Days

Why doesn’t anyone wear high tops with sweatpants anymore?! Sweatpants have basically made their way back into high class fashion, and the matching set with these kicks are unmatched. When you rock with the cinched ankles, you can wear whatever kicks you want. Rocking hightops to me, gives it an extra sporty punch, with a side of, I know how to dress. I would wear this look sneaker shopping, going to a sporting event, running errands, or maybe going to get brunch of a coffee after a long, fun night.

Blue Lagoon

Here is your class going out night look. For any bar, causal dinner, etc. This top is a mix of blues, that of course plays well to the details of the sneaker. I love the hem for the shirt, cinching in the waist, making it super easy to tuck into your high waisted denim. The legs are wide but just short enough to show off the sneakers. Grab your chunky purse, accessorize how you please, and you are good to go.

A Contrasting Love

Blue and yellow are two contrasting colors that I just adore. They paired the colors together in the sneakers, so of course we had to take the colorblocking to the extreme at some point here as well. This is a layering play to me. The jumpsuit has a super cute halter top and neckline, so it could be worn as is, with a tee shirt underneath, or a cardigan. But, you can always do a layer on top. This will cover the buttons on the bodice, but the key here is the pant leg. They are slightly bootleg so they will loosely fall over the hightop of the sneaker. The crew neck will sport up the dressiness of the jumpsuit, and you’ll be ready to school just about anybody who thinks their outfit of the day can beat yours.

Dynasty Looks

The blues throughout the sneaker are different, so I thought it would be fun to play with more shades of blue. You now basically have the darkest of blues, all the way through to the lightest of blues. I love a hightop sneaker with a long dress, and the slit that shows them off. The graphics on this dress tell a deep story, just as the messaging on the sneakers, so it became an even better perfect match in my eyes. Toss on your blue teddy to keep you weather ready, and you are good to take on the evening in style.

Game, Set, Match

I really was not thinking about pairing this set with this bomber prior to styling my Clyde Mid sneakers, but now I cannot think of any other way. The sweater set is cozy but form fitting, and a mixed hue somewhere between a gray and a blue. The vegan leather jacket is a beautiful brown, which I though would look nice with the tote color way of the sneaker. Between meshing well with the colors on the opposite end of the dark to light spectrum, the cropped jacket with the high top sneaker, and the sweater formstripe with the sweater dress, I just cannot get enough. This should be a fit for the gram, and a fit to take you wherever your night shall go.
