Work From Home Fits
4.10.20
My favorite part of going to work every day would be finding the dopest new outfit to wear. I work somewhere in which I am lucky enough to be able to wear just about anything I want, so long as it is appropriate and does not include competitor brand logos. While others come in wearing jeans and a t-shirt, I prefer to dress up my sneakers. I wear jumpsuits, blazers and jeans, matching two-piece sets, with a new pair of sneakers every day. Not going to the office anymore, it is kind of sad, not being able to flex on all of your co-workers. It is not even like anyone on Zoom can see your feet, so what really is the point of #KicksFromHome?
On top of there being a number of good causes that the sneaker industry is supporting, when requesting pictures of what shoes your wearing indoors, your work from home outfits are nothing to sleep on. While no one really expects you to put on a blazer, or a dress, to take calls from your bedroom, putting in an effort is bound to make your day a lot better. I do not know how many times I’ve heard, “oh I don’t feel like using the camera today, I look a mess.” But we’re told to use our cameras, as face to face is so much more important now that we haven’t been able to be in the same room for a month now and counting. It is a big difference than the normal and putting on a good outfit is one super easy way to get some normalcy back into your life.
There is the old saying, “if you look good, you feel good.” I would have to say that I that I strongly abide by this so much after going through quarantine. Staying in your pajamas all day just calls for a day of laziness. If it was a random snow day, I get it. Take advantage of your day off. However, this is our new norm, and with no idea what tomorrow has in store for us, we have to grind daily to prove we are essential to our employers. A dope fit is the starting point to our day. And with one, we will be ready to conquer every task at hand.
I’ve had multiple friends tell me they feel better and more successful at work when they get up and put on a nice shirt or put on a little mascara for the day. Again, you don’t have to put on a dress, a full face, or dress shoes, but looking presentable will make you feel more awake, more prepared, and also show whomever you’re chatting with that you are here to take this day seriously.
So, what do I recommend? As a jumpsuit and two-piece set fanatic, I also have plenty of sweater, sweat suit and knitted material sets and jumpsuits. They range from cute going out outfits, office acceptable, to chilling at the mall. I love wearing these every day and throwing on a pair of dope sneakers to match. Take a quick working from home outfit of the day picture, exchange your sneakers for a pair of slides if you wish, and enjoy your day. Once you feel good about your outfit, you’re ready to show off the fit, and your energy to the rest of the team who may not being handling themselves as well.
I’m sure there isn’t enough of these to last the whole quarantine time period, but I would say there are two essential pieces you have to have. A good top, and a cool pair of slides. I personally think people who walk around the house barefoot are insane. I always keep a pair of slides on me, and it is a nice accent to make an outfit feel complete when you do not need shoes to go outside. Since typically when one is on Zoom or whatever video chat service you use is waist to shoulders up, a good top is important. A nice sweater, maybe a button up if you’re a guy that typically dresses up to the office, it will make all the difference. You’ll feel more like you’re actually at work and determined to get things done. Of course, once your meetings are over, you can throw on that white tee and hoodie, kick back and relax, without the struggles of dying in traffic in your nice clothes.
