2023 VMA’s

9.13.23

Diddy, King Combs

MTV’s 2023 VMA’s went down last night, and of course with Nicki Minaj hosting it was everything we’d want and more. There were performances that rocked the room, looks that turned heads, and some dance moves in the audience that did the same. No matter your taste in music, there was surely something for you to enjoy on this incredible night for music.

Though Nicki Minaj got the hosting gig this year, Cardi B still had to perform after dropping her new smash hit record, Bongos, with Megan the Stallion. While some may have wanted “Miley what’s good?” moment from their host, the performance went great and Nicki did not have hosting duties for a few more segments further into the show.

Nicki herself performed not once, but twice. One time previewed new music from upcoming album, and the second during a Hip-Hop 50th Anniversary Segment. Shakira and Diddy were both given honorary awards throughout the night, and both had performs to burn down the house. To think Shakira is fourty-six years old and still singing and dancing the way she did last night is incredible. Her hips still do not lie, people. For that, Shakira took home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the VMA’s highest honor. Diddy was honored with the Global Icon Award. Not only did Diddy bring out Yung Miami and Keisha Cole for guest performances, but his son King Combs performed with him, his twin daughters danced with him, and his third daughter presented him with his award. A family affair, for real. This was really cool.

Ice Spice won the award for Best New Artist, of course. She got emotional during her accepting speech and we are so happy for her. It was of course Taylor Swift who once again took home the most awards of the night. One award that was not given last night that we can give to her online, however, was funniest crowd clip of the evening. Taylor Swift is going viral for her dance moves to Lil Wayne performing, A Milli. Taylor was dancing the night away, and some may say she was dancing like she was listening to a sexy song, but hey, we’ll let her live. We all love Lil Wayne.

Below is a list of the full nominees and winners for the evening. Did your favorite artist win?
