Scar Lip, No Statements

Scar Lip releases new song and music video, No Statements, as she pushes to grow her career in the music industry. After trending for months on social media for her witty freestyles and TikTok style dances, Scar Lip has gotten the attention of well respected hip-hop talent. She has signed a deal to Epic Records, and could be turning the social fun, into an epic career.

If you have been following Scar Lip on social, you have recall her going viral for the Glizzy Gobbler social trend. At the time, the female drill sound she shared through her somewhat playful rhymes were totally new, and definitely intriguing. Her last single, This is New York, went even more viral, for Scar Lip’s dramatic energy and “Runs New York” attitude. The new single, No Statements, is the first bit of versatility we hear from Scar Lip as an artist. It is pretty interesting.

In the single, No Statements, Scar Lip does still rap, and rhyme about street business. However, she brings versatility in the fact that she rhymes over a full beat, with a new style. The beat is more horror film esque than a drill beat. The instrument is mostly keys and chimes with a single drum beat each eight count. She raps, but uses different tempos and flows, and fills in her gaps with adilbs. While she was a TikTok Star, I also found the choreography throughout the music video from both Scar Lip and the guys in her video incredibly impressive.

I see this as Scar Lip’s first legitimate single, and I like it. The question is, does she keep up the work and put in for a real hip-hop music career as a solo artist?
