Even though yesterday was Monday July 5th, today is the dreaded Tuesday after a holiday, which feels like a Monday. But, today is also the day we get to tell all our co-workers and friends about our weekend, or in this case, spill the tea on what went down in hip-hop. Two massive 4th of July parties took place on each coast. But whose was the best?

The battle of East Coast vs West Coast has been a historical debate in hip-hop. Though, now, on top of East Coast vs West Coast, you also have the South and the Mid-West. So many new genres of music are popping out from new locations, making the debate that much more compact and interesting. However, this 4th of July weekend, hip-hop really took it back to the New York versus LA debate. This time, between 4th of July parties.

Diddy through a party at his house in LA. Sharing a video packed with celebs, Diddy captioned the video “THE MOST PRIVATE PARTY IN THE WORLD.”#CLUBLOVE🖤✨💫” Club Love definitely refers to Diddy announcing changing his name to Brother Love. Friends in the video and other content shared from the night included Drake, French Montana, Conway The Machine, Freddie Gibbs, Bryson Tiller, Busta Rhymes, Preme, London on the Track, all of the Combs children, and many more.

The bar at Diddy’s house has a neon light that reads “Club Love.” While the theme may not be as clear as the next, everyone showed up rocking their best fits and icy chains, leaving all the images glistening throughout the night. There seemed to be a ton of hip-hop love in the room, with everyone sharing their own flicks and giving shout outs to one another.

On the opposite coast in NYC, Michael Rubin threw a white party as his brand new mansion. It seemed like everyone else was at this party, from Meek Mill, to Lil Uzi Vert and JT, to James Harden, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Tinashe, Yo Gotti, Quavo, Travis Scott, Jay-Z, J Balvin, Bobby Shmurda, A$AP Ferg, Robert Kraft, Bon Jovi, and many more.

Everyone wore their flyest white outfits, and hit the dance floor. Lil Uzi went viral for his moves on the dance floor, which lead to a friendly dance battle between Uzi and Bobby Shmurda. Recently, a clip went viral pointing out James Harden and Meek Mill having a “tickle fight.” I am pretty sure this was Harden trying to push Meek out on the dance floor because Meek Mill cannot dance, and it super open about it.

However, it seemed like an amazing night. Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion and Tinashe all performed live, and there was a DJ on deck, keeping the party moving. Man, to be a fly on that wall, or whatever the saying is.

I would take either party, but it seems like Michael Rubin really put together the party of the year. It certainly seems like himself and Meek Mill are family at this point, and the whole hip-hop community that was there that night has taken notice, and is putting business at the top of their priorities.
