Machine Gun Kelly is no stranger to the big screen, nor is he a stranger to controversy. The artist has found himself in a number of feuds within the industry, whether they be about music, relationships or pure egotistical problems. However, his current issue runs deep, with a new business adventure that rubbed many the wrong way.

Machine Gun Kelly has been featured in a few films so far, including Beyond The Lights and Bird Box. The artist is now said to have his own film in the works, which was announced with the title, Good News. This title may sound a bit familiar, as Good News was one of the hit singles from Mac Miller’s first posthumous album, Circles.

While the production company is standing by the idea that this title was to pay homage to the late rapper, it is deemed insensitive by many, including Mac Miller’s family. Learning what the film is depicted to offer, it certainly seems too soon to do something like this, without the knowledge of the Mac Miller Estate/Family.

According to early reports of the film, Machine Gun Kelly will play the “fictional” role of an artist on the rise whom is struggling in their life. It sounds like, an artist struggling with addiction. We hear the film is inspired by the list of artists whom have tragically lost their lives at an early stage, including Mac Miller, Lil Peep, Juice WLRD, XXX Tentacion, Pop Smoke, and others. While this film is surely to teach kids not to get caught up in these life-threatening patterns, this is surely something to rub the family the wrong way without being involved.

Mac Miller’s brother was quick to hop to social media and discredit Machine Gun Kelly for attempting to use Good News as his movie title. He expressed anger and basically stated to change the title. While we have not heard much directly from Machine Gun Kelly up until this point in time, the production company says they have heard the feedback, and will be changing the title of the movie.

To some, I am sure this is still insensitive or too soon. While someone will be profiting off of experiences that were tragic and life-ending to many, it is a message that needs to be told, in attempts to end this cycle. There is no release date just yet, however I am sure they will find ways to pay homage respectfully to the artists.
