72 Bar Assassin
6.24.21
The Game took to Instagram to share his feelings about a poor Father’s Day experience he had, this past weekend. Apparently, other than his oldset son, none of his children nor family members reached out to acknowledge him. Perhaps it lit a bit of a fire under The Game, or he was just getting ready to unleash this gem. Once the hottest rapper in the game, is back to remind you just why he claims he is, in fact, The Game. DJ Kay Slay is reportedly dropping a project his Friday, with the first release being 72 Bar Assassin, by The Game.
DJ Kay Slay is well respected in hip-hop, he can make a beat for the streets, or a beat for the club. You can tell a Kay Slay beat because there is just so many different sounds and transitions that goes into the beat, its always super interesting and unique. The upcoming project is titled Accolades, and has a stacked lined up of features, include The Game, Raekwon, Sheek Louch, Ghostface Killah, Tragedy Khadafi, EMC Scotty, InkedUp, Styles P, Mc Gruff, Jadakiss, Dave East, Papoose and more. The project overall should certainly be something to tap into, especially after hearing this assassination of a track.
When you hear “72 Bar Assassin,” you probably automatically assume it is some sort of a freestyle, or a track with no hook, that may sound cool, but you forget about it moments later. While this is not any type of How We Do club anthem, I can promise you that you will not be forgetting this one.
The Game takes no prisoners from start to finish with his three minute and thirty second assassin track. He went in and made every bar count, to ensure no attention was lost throughout the duration of the track. The blogs are saying The Game from G-Unit is back. I am not sure I can go that far, because while he praised Lloyd Banks for his latest album, his feelings on the rest of the crew came off a bit questionable. However, he certainly did not hold back from what is on his mind, and I think that is what we always love to hear - from anyone in the game.
Too many bars made me pause and rewind. Jaw on the floor, falling off my seat type of bars. So, let’s just break down a few of my favorites from the track.
King of New York, King of L.A
And I don't give a fuck what Diddy say, my semi spray
This is the first, but certainly not the last time The Game calls out an industry mate in the track. Diddy is from New York, and many may feel that he is the King of New York. You could also say the same for Jay-Z. However, the beef comes from The Game being from Compton, but has always claimed to be at the top of both the LA and NY rap game, because of his time and presence spent in each location, especially after singing with 50 Cent who is also from New York. Diddy and the Aftermath team had been cool in the beginning, but a lot of business tiffs lead them astray, hence this being a little more risky than any old name drop.
I pop guns like Meek Mill pop wheelies
He surprised? Look at his eyes,
Meek Mill is the next recognizable name drop. The Game references Meek popping wheelies, in a way that may seem violent, but I think he is doing it in a way to show some sort of empathy for Meek. Everyone knows about the crazy charge and jail time Meek Mill had done for popping wheelies in the streets. The Game says just as much as Meek Mill is riding on his bikes, he is using weapons. It’s almost like in My Life when he wonders why his friends are getting into trouble or getting hurt, but he is getting away with it all. Hopefully they both stay safe from now on, right?!
Long as the summer last, I gotta keep a gun to grab
'Cause after Covid, all the razorblades is under masks
My n** air out the club then we Damon Dash
In the same PT Cruiser that n** Stunna had
At this point, The Game is really getting his flow down, and the world play comes into play heavily. It would not be a 2021 hit without a Covid line, and it’s starting to get heated. Damon Dash has most recently been in the news about profiting off of a Jay-Z album NFT. He was taken to court and lost, but ultimately The Game is saying he’s taking all your money! I also think it’s important to note here with the Stunna name drop, how as hip to the old-school rap game that The Game is, he is still staying on top of what is happening today. Stunna 4 Vegas is widely known as a social media personality in the hip-hop space, but does have a number of hits and is a part of DaBaby’s Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment label.
Puffin' on a blunt of gas just to talk about a Verzuz with 50, tell Swizzy, "I need a hundred, cash"
Can't see me now, couldn't see me with Young Buck and them
Shoutout to Lloyd Banks, album go hard, n**
Tell Curtis to give you one of them bulletproof cars
You supposed to do your squad like Yo Gotti do 'em
Therefore it's still the Unit long as I can still move 'em
We have some tea here on the G-Unit crew. There is personally nothing I would love more than a 50 Cent and The Game Verzuz battle. It seems like The Game has probably been hearing lots of rumblings, whether from fans or perhaps from Swizz himself about the opportunity. 50 Cent has turned down the challenge from T.I. many times, but perhaps if it was with an old friend, he would consider. The Game sounds ready for the right number, and now that Swizzy knows, I cannot see him letting this one slide.
The Game goes on to say we can’t see him now, nor could we when he was with Young Buck and them, hinting at his G-Unit days. Young Buck seems to be the ugly duckling of the crew that no longer gets respect in the industry, though, I am not sure The Game is directly saying much about him, directly. He does give Lloyd Banks a shout out, for his new album, The Course of the Inevitable, which dropped just two weeks ago.
He says that 50 should be hooking up the G-Unit crew, and treating them better, like Yo Gotti does. This is another example of The Game really paying attention to what is going on today in hip-hop. Yo Gotti runs CMG, the hip-hop label whom runs the south, and essentially the world if we’re being honest. Lil Baby, MoneyBagg Yo, 42 Dugg, and many others rep CMG, and Yo Gotti has been absolutely killing it as their label master.
The Game then says it’s “Still the Unit” and I think by that he is recognizing that even though their days are over, he is still well off and can tribute that to their days. It is good to see that after all those years, though they may not all be on the same page, there is no hate or bad blood. So let’s get that Verzuz battle going, okay?!
Got n** from Cedar Block that'll kill you for Yeezy Slides
Got n** from the 60s still mad over Nipsey
Tell 'em the blaze comin', it's a hot boy summer
Might f** Kim K on a Waverunner in Wave Runners
Throw it on the blogs, ain't shit they can take from us
We both had the west on lock for 8 summers
I'm tryna bubble like the Gap this season
I need everyone to understand how insane the Kanye references are. Let’s play a game, how many Kanye references can you pick out in these bars? I spy seven.
All the cap n** sneezin' got me strapped this evenin'
J. Cole got a n** wantin' to rap this season
Lil Durk got n** wantin' to trap this season
So my Cincinnati hat is to the back this evenin'
Black MAC I'm squeezin' at your back this evenin'
Blap-blap said he traps for the rat that's squeakin'
How they kill D-Thang but 6ix9ine still breathin'?
I have the chills with this break down. Obviously the delivery is aggressive and passionate here. I like seeing The Game give J. Cole his flowers, because no matter how much rap beef he has gotten into over the years, he respects talent, and has called that out several times in the track. Lil Durk is the most popping of the new wave at this moment in time, so the track makes sense. Unfortunately, he lose his brother, D-Thang, to the streets, just a few weeks ago. The Game recognized his fallen brother, while questioning the existence of 6ix9ine, which is always earth shattering. Between The Game’s hatred of 6ix9ine, the beef 6ix9ine has with Young Buck, and his most infamous beef with Lil Durk - The Game putting them in the same bar - this is just absurd.
Honestly, there is a lot more. Praise to Nipsey and HOV multiple times, and just The Game doing his thing bar for bar. I hope to hear more for him, though he seems to be relatively over the industry. I am also ready to hear the rest of DJ Kay Slay’s album this Friday.
