Concerts Are Back
6.23.21
In the United States, it has been nearly a year and a half since the pandemic began, and large events have been shut down. As things begin to open back up again, restaurants are opening at full capacity, stadiums at certain capacities, and now, it seems that concerts will be back in full force by the fall.
The Verzuz battles have truly been the highlight of my pandemic. Clearly by the content of the blog, you’re aware how important music is to my daily life. For over a year, the Verzuz battle was the closest thing we were able to get to live music. Yesterday, it seemed like everyone was announcing their tours, and I cannot wait to start going to concerts again.
Many artists during the pandemic, mentioned they were holding back on releasing new music, because they typically go on tour when they are gearing up for a new album, to amplify the visibility, and rack up the cash as well. So, with tours being back in action, there could potentially also be an ample amount of new music on the way, also.
First, Lil Baby announced his tour, featuring Lil Durk. The two currently have twenty-four stops lined up for their US tour, beginning in September throughout mid-October. The duo just released a join LP The Voice of the Heroes, on June 4th, which debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. They pushed 150,000 equivalent album sales digitally, with 4,000 true album sales. Each artist has been on the top of the top of their games recently, and this tour is surely to sell tickets. The debut of their project is said to be the second most successful rap album release this year, only behind the release of J. Cole’s The Off-Season.
Speaking of J. Cole - with his new album, he also announced a new tour. J. Cole will go on tour with 21 Savage, and new XXL Freshman, Morray. I was not really expecting the 21 Savage company, but I am here for it. All artists have new music and big things coming, so it makes sense to all hit the road on tour. The Off-Season Tour will begin towards the end of September, to the end of October. If you look closely, J. Cole also announced the Rolling Loud locations he’ll attend towards the end of this year, as well as Dreamville Fest, which will take place in April of 2022. Dreamville Fest has been postponed several times due to the pandemic, and it looks like a firm date is finally available in our calendars.
Finally, Jack Harlow announced a lineup of tours from September throughout November. Jack Harlow will be playing a number of theaters and House of Blues locations across the US. After the release of Jack’s new album, he saw a lot of success, and the industry started painting him as much more than the one-hit-wonder we once thought he was after What’s Poppin. Unfortunately, his team ran into some trouble recently that got his DJ and long-time friend placed behind bars. At the time, he lost a few gigs, like performing at the Kentucky Derby, but it seems like Jack has his head on right, and he is ready to move forward. Currently, there are not any prior acts listed, but I am sure there will be a few. I would love to EST.Gee open for Jack Harlow, really bringing the Kentucky guys full circle.
The Migos recently released Culture III, and the Deluxe. They mentioned in a recent interview that the album was completed a while back, but were waiting until they were able to go on tour. I would definitely expect the trio to head on tour in the near future.
Others that appear to be going on tour include Kevin Gates, Tech N9ne, 24K Goldn, Rodwave Benny the Butcher, and more. Music and concerts are officially back in full effect. I cannot wait.
